Sup.
I've been away from the sub (from Reddit in general) for a bit - working on RL shit - but I was just mulling something over while sittin' on the john. Figured I'd share.
I've had an Official Girlfriend for a few months now, and other women I bump into weekly have taken notice. Preselection rears its beautiful head, and I'm dealing with some unwanted (but not entirely unappreciated) attention as a result. This has served to highlight something very specific about what women say vs. what they mean. Here it is:
When an attractive woman compliments your girl's physical SMV, she's actually trying to draw attention to her own SMV.
Examples.
Girl 'Katy' I see out at bars all the time. Out with my girl, Katy runs over to give me a hug. Looks at me, looks at my girl, back at me. "Is this your girlfriend?" When I nod, Katy does the Body Language Thing and practically yells "OHMYGOD you're beautiful!!!" Diagnosis: attention-seeking, subconsciously fabricated generosity to subtly bump Katy's contextual SMV.
Girl 'Mags' I see at work. Pretends she forgot I had a girl, then when I describe my girl she also does the Body Language Thing and acts like she suddenly remembers. What does she remember? "Oh yeah, OHMYGOD she's really pretty!!" Subtext: "but you could do better, have you noticed that I ALSO AM PRETTY?"
Just a couple items to illustrate that women are easily understood, so long as you pay attention to their emotional cues over their words.
Aaaaand I'm out again.
