My standard disclaimer: I know nothing. I represent nothing. I'm just bored and I like to "talk".
So, sounds like you're starting from square zero, maybe negative one.
I believe standard advice when you're learning is to go and practice game with random chicks rather than getting stuck on oneitis.
It sounds like you should check out PUA basics for what you're looking for. You might appreciate some general TRP background; check the sidebar.
One of the recent recommendations here that I liked was to learn how to dance. I can link that thread if you're interested.
Don't expect to win this girl. Change your life; learn new skills; win other girls.
Buuut, no harm in trying some hail mary here. Any other chicks in the class you might be interested in? It would help if you can start getting with some others. You could try dirty tricks against him, but it's not my cup of tea, and I'm not saying it's necessarily in line with any of the theory here either. Alternately, just ignore him: get your little bit of conversation in, and figure out what you can invite her to do with you. In the likely outcome that you can't, get over it, find some others you're interested in, and go play with them.

Make a move on this chick ASAP. To avoid getting friendzoned, you need to make your intentions clear (i.e., let her know you want to date her or fuck her). Don't fear rejection. Either she's interested or she's not.
