Training 3 times a weel is more frequency than 4-5 times a week, since the former is a full body routine and the latter needs to be a split.
I don't know why people think more gym = more gains, as a beginner you will get much bigger from doing the big compounds 3 days instead of 4-5 days full of isolation for your biceps and abs.

Yes. But if you do a split 5-6 days a week you will get much more gainz than just 3 days a week.
I had decent gains doing 3 days, but I really gained when I upped it to 5. It's hard to sustain though, as there isn't much time for anything else when you're going to the gym that much.
Edit: I don't know if people think split means isolation, but you can still do overlapping compound exercises in a split routine.

3 day full body is more volume than 6 day split. Hate it when nonlifters don’t get that.

Working out till muscle failure 5 times a week is nonsense! Stop watching these trash fitness videos and read 'Body by Science' or something from Arthur Jones on that topic.

Im yet to meet someone who got big and strong naturally lifting 3times/week. Until then, I believe its still low to build muscle. The guy i know lifting 3times/week is just maintaining his muscle after countless hours of serious weightlifting.

I agree with you but I see you're getting a lot of pushback. 3 days gets you normie size. It's very hard to overtrain if you're splitting, sleeping and eating properly.

If you want to become fit and and you're not training 4-5 times a week(3 is bullshit when you're a beginner)
Only thing I wanna comment on is that a lot of people underestimate how much it takes to overtrain. You're not gonna be "overtrained" because you go to the gym 7 days a week (although, lifting heavy 7 days a week might be counterproductive for other reasons). The amount of exercise volume required for "overtraining" for most healthy young males is staggering.
So, while these idiots are hamstering at the gym, I workout like a spartan. The kind from halo. Heavy weights and then 10km run.

You'd be surprised how easy it can be to overtrain if you're not fueling your body correctly or having inadequate sleep.
Lifting is only a third of training and becoming fit. Kitchen and sleep are just as important if not more.

Yes, as long as you sleep well and feed right, unless you lift really heavy everyday, overtraining is hard. Most people undertrain. I walk into my gym and the really big dudes are always there, most train mon-friday. Then there are these weak dudes who come mon, wed and friday😅😅

What are your numbers on the main lifts?
[–]callmejacks[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Squat 125kgs Overhead press 60kgs Bench press 85kgs Deadlift 145kgs
[–]tibikush20120 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
nice squat and overhead :) But your bench and dead are lagging. With a 60kg overhead you should be able to do 100kg bench. And with a 125kg squat, you should be able to do 160KG+ deadlift. Keep going though

Learned that early when I started going to the gym on stronglifts program. I lifted 3 times/week for six months and the results were honestly mediocre. After upping to 4 times/week- my progression on weights and size has been impressive. As long as you sleep and eat right, recovery is fast
