I went over that in my op. Cultural conservatives oppose rape as well but for different reasons. For most of history, however, rape was not looked down on nearly as much as it is today.

Rape removes a woman's autonomy to choose the impregnator of her eggs. A rape itself may leave little physical damage but the denial of a womens core purpose (find good sperm for her eggs) is violated which often cuts to a womens pyschological core.
Rape is to sexual strategy what armed robbery is to wealth creation. Both are illegal for a very good reason.
