Intro
Taking action and applying what you read is more effective and way more different than simply reading about it. This is because it allows you to apply what you read and reflect on how you actually perform out in the world, allowing you to tune your game in accordance with your knowledge. Simply reading and believing you have ingrained theory in your head and fully ingested PUA theory + the Pill is meaningless unless you have gone out and applied it for yourself to truly experience it first-hand. Experiencing it first-hand is more powerful than simply reading about it, and you will instantly feel that once you begin taking action.
Body
I had been involved with the PUA world for around two years... just reading. I have been involved with TRP for around 4-6 months I would say. I read a fuck-ton of posts on seddit about seduction principles and things of the like before I had found this sub. Mind you, this is TWO YEARS of only reading. Back then, I had just graduated high school and had been attending a community college. I spent my days struggling with Tinder, going to class and hoping to magically get ass, and going home afterwards with minimal social interaction. I rarely made friends with the people from my college and just went to go to class and go home afterwards. I wasn't doing well at ALL with women, but oh how I felt like I was a seduction god with all the theory I knew! (/s). Eventually got fed up with community college and transferred to a 4-year university before completing the 2 years of community college. I embraced TRP during my last semester, but still didn't really apply it to great effect until the end of the semester. When summer came around, I understood that I needed to step it up a lot if I were to become better with women. I had just gotten over my one-itis and needed to improve myself. With that... I decided to go out one night and did my first ever cold-approach.
I began cold-approaching only about two weeks ago. Yes... TWO WEEKS ago. After years of reading about how to approach, how to open, how to close, etc., and thinking that I was a seduction lord, I only recently began applying it. My first revelation? I was terrible. Basically an incel. Like... I was MUCH worse than I thought. I've already had a pizza crust thrown at me, have had girls keep walking and give me no attention at all, and had to speak in a whole different language just to end up getting rejected anyway. These experiences really destroyed what I thought of myself and made me realize that all the knowledge I had was no good because I had never gone out and put it to full effect. I was humbled. Regardless, I'm reflecting on the terrible experiences I do have and learning from them.
It's really a whole different feeling to read about cold-approaching and then going out and actually doing it. I expected to face rejection constantly, and was always afraid of it. Even though I have gotten blown out of the water pretty fucking badly, I haven't really faced rejection as much as I had expected to, and have been doing somewhat decently with closing. I thought I would get absolutely no numbers at all and would get turned down by every single set I approached, but it didn't actually turn out this way. That said, I still haven't been able to actually go out with these girls yet. Regardless, getting numbers is already significantly better than sitting in my room all day reading seddit and wondering why I'm not doing well with women. Since I began cold-approaching, I can feel my confidence begin to rise ever so slightly, and I am beginning to feel like I can do anything. I feel different now. Beginning to approach has torn me right out of my comfort zone, has made me learn a LOT, and has begun to slowly develop my character.
This change came about only after I realized that I had read enough, began to read less, and realized I had to go out more with other guys to do approaches. I had to put this stuff to practice. I'm reading less and doing more, and I'm reflecting on my experiences to find out what I do wrong and how I can improve it the next time I go out.
Side note: my first ever cold-approach resulted in me getting rejected anyway!
Conclusion
We need to read about PUA and TRP to learn the basics and the theory behind it, but there comes a point where you need to actually go out and begin applying what you read instead of shove a bunch of theory in your head for years on end. It's one thing to read theory, another thing to apply it. It's one thing to understand oneitis, another thing to catch it and have to deal with it in a way that you never were accustomed to. It's one thing to read about approaching, another thing to actually walk up to a random human being you've never seen in your life and try to get her number. It sounds all fine and dandy, but when you go out and actually do it... it's a whole different world. I felt like I had a grasp on how to approach, but the moment I began ACTUALLY approaching, I realized how much I didn't know about it. I felt like I knew everything, but I realized I'm far from that.
Don't be like how I was two years ago; read what you need to, get the basics down, and go apply it in your life ASAP. From there, you can get more advanced and fine-tune your game. Discover what works for you, and improve it. Don't hurt yourself by reading so much theory that you never end up going out and putting it to work.
Read less, do more.
