Realistic goals are good when not used as a buffer (to avoid an uncomfortable situation such as rejection) but as a method of achieving the habit of success.

In the long run, though, make your goals unrealistic and create daily habits to move you one step toward them. Over time, you'll be surprised far you've gone.
