Summary: Let’s think beyond the stark choice between Patriarchy and Matriarchy.

Body: While many TRP subscribers will say ‘get yours and enjoy the fall,’ I know that there are some RP thinkers out there that wrestle with the deep, structural challenges to our culture and society. A patriarchy is an unnatural way to order civilization – most of the pre-civilized hunter gatherer tribes were matriarchies. Most of the animal world functions as a matriarchy. BUT, without the imposition of a patriarchy, men would never have been incentivized to build civilization. (Aside: We invented dishwashers, washing machines and stoves, because men LOVE women! We didn’t even do the cooking or cleaning, but we loved our women so much that we wanted to make their lives easier. We loved them so much (THEN) because we could trust them more than we can now. AWALT has always been around, but back in the day, there were religious and social conventions that attempted to hold hypergamy in check). Our societal structure allowed us to build civilization. Now those structures have been forcibly removed by 2nd and 3rd wave feminism, and we’re seeing the consequences snowball into a dystopian present and potential future.

We’re at a crucial point in our development, because our civilization will make or break itself in the next few decades. Not only do we have the misandry bubble to contend with, but we’re also destroying the environment, the world economy is basically made up of a multitude of accounting frauds, and we’ll start running low on cheap fossil fuels soon. Our civilization, if able to wake up from its current daze, can handle all of these problems. The question is that while it CAN handle these problems, WILL it?

I propose a discussion of a third way. The example that comes to mind is hunting-gathering versus monoculture farming. Some radical environmentalists will contend that when humanity started farming, it opened a Pandora’s Box of environmental damage, monoculture, totalitarianism and war. I wouldn’t dispute that. BUT, farming was the precursor for industrial civilization, which allowed us to go to space. I believe that the destiny of humankind is to populate the stars. If our civilization falls from the misandry bubble, environmental desolation, or a combination of any of the other risks we face, then we’ll be set back in our quest for outer space by hundreds of years, if not forever. The good news is that there is a third way – permaculture farming. It allows us to use the land indefinitely without salinization, chemical damage, desertification, or nutrient depletion.

So RP men, what ideas do you have on a similar third way to structure our civilization? I’ve heard several concepts I’d like to see expounded upon, such as harems/polygamy, 5 and 10 year cohabitation contracts, and communal families.

Lessons learned: There is a third way available for many of the stark choices that we face. Is there a third way beyond the matriarchy and patriarchy?

TL; DR Summary: We at TRP have a collection of great minds, and more importantly, we’re AWAKE. Let’s begin a discussion of a structure that would work for our future. Something to teach our kids. Patriarchy worked very well for thousands of years, but we’re seeing what happens in the endgame; i.e. it works a bit too well, and can hurt the planet itself. Matriarchy preserves the environment, if for no other reason that men don’t build much, or do anything besides hunt a little for themselves and the tribe. What can we build that would be even better than either one?
