Everything here was supposed to disappear. Banned subreddits, deleted communities, cancelled blogs — much of what is archived here survives nowhere else.

It stays free — no paywall, no account — for the next man who comes looking, the way it was free for you.

I pay for the servers, the storage and the bandwidth myself. If you want this record still standing in ten years, become one of the people who keeps it online.

Think about the underlying premise of this post. Your trying to entertain women, presumably so that they will have sex with you. If you're handsome and wealthy women will think your funny.

Yeah... with regards to communication, persuasion, and entertainment, "who you are" matters much more than "what you say".

Ethos & Pathos > Logos.

So I was out with a group after a semi-formal party. This is a fairly PC, liberal group. We're approached by this homeless guy who asked for some change.

The rest of us ignore, but the wealthy attractive guy responds, "Sure, do you take American Express?" Stops for a moment. Smirks. Then walks away with the rest of us. The rest of us roar with laughter as we walk away. "hohoho, that was great."

It was funny in a mean way, but the fact that he's a charismatic guy certainly made it easier for us to ignore the meanness of that joke.

That being said, it's not like comedy can't exist as an independent trait. Some people let their comedy be carried by their other traits (wealth, physical attractiveness, confidence, intelligence), and some others get carried by their comedy.

...

Comedy is fine, and I do think a lot of women genuinely do appreciate a funny guy, but the problem I have with the idea that "women love comedy" is that it is incredibly subjective and hard to define and very cliche. It often sounds like a copout to the question, "How do I become attractive to women?"

Post-modernist society teaches us not to be materialistic, not to be shallow, to be sensitive, etc... so it's distasteful to a lot of people to simply be honest and say,

"Most women want a tall, physically fit, wealthy man of the same ethnicity. Other attributes may apply."

That is just too blunt. So a lot of boys grow up with wishy-washy, abstract answers that give them no objective goals.

Meanwhile, "I like him for his humor!" gives a simple, non-shallow, non-materialistic rationalization for attraction for whatever reason. It can basically apply to any guy with half a personality, but it's preferably applied to guys with more value.

It's 99% delivery. Why do you think you need to be funny?

Funny will not get you laid. Ever.

If you do want to analyse some humour, check out Comedy Writing Secrets by Melvin Helitzer. Don't think this has anything to do with TRP though.
