RP Advice from Rudyard Kipling, 1895

Needs better formatting. As much as I like Kipling, I think an even more Red Pill poet would be William Ernest Henley.

This poem is called Invictus.

Out of the black night that covers me

Black as the pit from pole to pole

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloodied but unbowed

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find me, unafraid

It matters not how strait the gate

How charged with punishments the scroll

I am the master of my fate

I am the captain of my soul

Red pill as fuck. Now to find the First Mate to my Captain.

This has been one of my favorite poems since long before I find the red pill, but re-reading it through these lens was great. Good post

I'd add another similar one, but not from Kipling:

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

The last line is the best. Calling people "son" really works. Immediately establishes you are the one in control. Whenever I meet someone its "hi, son"

I had it up on my wall growing up. I used it for academic inspiration and as inspiration to not give in to my sisters/mother whenever we would argue. It makes much more RP sense now, as a 29 year old.

Please re-format to the original poem format.
