Summary: Be the jack of all trades, but have atleast one thing where you are indispensable; and always try to make the most out of life.
Body: Ahh, the Abundance-Scarcity dynamic.
You all have known it's around you and have seen it all the time.
Something that is in abundance for you loses its value. There was a time when food was a scarce source and during the time people who used to hunt (aka the hunters-gatherers tribe) were treated as the real alphas of the tribe (I read it in a book on sex magick-that's actually where the alpha beta dynamic comes from). People bringing in the scarce product-food for the tribe produced a huge amount of value and thus were given godly status in the tribe; since not everybody was wishing to go down the line to hunt for a couple animals in the scary wilderness.
Food might have lost it's value now due to abundance, but it's necessity can still be seen in our biology. We get an equal amount of dopamine on a good meal of food as we get during sex; and that should tell you something.
If you game for a long time and eventually are good at getting laid; your prospects exponentially increase thanks to the drastic loss of value of pussy to you and the fact that it takes it off the pedestal for you; thus giving you more of that 'alpha dominance' vibe.
This dynamic is supposedly everywhere. Why scarcity creates value is also because People want what they can't have. Scarcity makes that particular thing or opportunity far from your reach and it tells you the rewards of getting it would be as higher.
This is why you need to prioritize things according to their apparent value. Some of the extremely scarce things are: time and opportunity. You should always be willing to use these two things wisely and bring them to good use. And always have one or two character traits that are extremely scarce these days-We at TRP already have women off the pedestal and since we advocate lifting a lot here I'd assume most people are extremely self disciplined here; other scarce qualities might also be-knowing how to master a particular skill, reading etc. The good thing about gaining these traits is that it makes you scarce since most people love these traits; they generally try to internalize these values but are unsuccessful-an INCREDIBLE boost to your SMV.
Being reading a lot for a while now, a book "So good they can't ignore you" emphasized a lot about why and how passion is fucking bullshit and the path of successful people is generally more complicated than we think. (I highly recommend this book and would love people here to read especially the part in the end where he breaks down deliberate practice. You can ask me for a pdf).
In the book, the formula for success was as follows-You have to gain 'career capital' as gaining expertise/mastery in atleast ONE thing (there is a book by another author of this title-The One Thing; where she talks about how there should be that one thing where nobody is better than you) and ignoring all others; and eventually try something unconventional; since then it's that risky.
The reason why this advice is so useful to your career is that you've probably seen many mediocre people. Well truth is, they are everywhere. So if you are one step ahead and have atleast one or two things where you are a master; you are ahead of so many people it's not even funny (recommended reading-The Dip by Seth Godin. He talks about that phase you generally fall in when in the middle of learning the skill; and how most people don't get past that phase).
Apart from career, remember the scarcity-abundance dynamic in ALL your goals and in other aspects of your life. I am an engineering student from India, a degree that has lost its value due to millions obtaining degrees and it's really sad how engineers are treated these days; and unless I have a skill or two in my field that gets me ahead of most of the job seekers I am a nobody to companies with my degree.
Same being applicable to game: Why is it successful? Because it gives you the abundance mindset of 'women are abundant' and away from the beta orbiting mindset of 'this woman is all I have'. Same thing for money and many other things. So chose wisely and all the best!
Lessons learned:
-Scarcity creates value, remember to sort things out accordingly
-The only thing you need to get way ahead in your career is to fight mediocrity and gain skill acquisition skills.
Sidenote: This is my first post on TRP; I'd love some advice on writing and would love some book recommendations being thrown around related to the topic.
EDIT: A lot of people are asking for the pdf of 'So good they can't ignore you'. Here is a download link for the same: http://howentrepreneur.com/so-good-they-cant-ignore-you-pdf-ebook/
