Each case is about 3 hours long. It's heavily edited.

I love watching that show and Dragons Den (Canadian version) to see how poorly these business owners usually value their company. As someone with a business background, it's absolutely hilarious watching some of the ridiculous valuation numbers that get thrown around.

I thought dragons den was british

[–]TRPforme0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I believe that's where it originated, but not 100% sure. The Canadian version is called Dragons Den though.

Its all good. Does the Canadian version have a Simon Cowell type judge?

[–]TRPforme0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Kevin O'Leary. The man is a ruthless asshole, makes for great television. He's cut throat and rips on anyone with a hole in their business plan

I will make time for it then.

"The women, instead of focusing more on the sales or future growth potential, decided to focus on the emotional appeal of the sharks. Reprehensible." So instead of focusing on logic and reasoning they tried to make an emotional connection with their potential partners. Considering that is exactly what TRP teaches men about how we need to communicate with women I don't see exactly how you would have a problem with this.

Well as I said in another comment, I suppose if the tactic works, it works. However, it does bug me that they would try to use the fact that somebody else is also an immigrant to gain privilege instead of merits.

It may work, which is fine (it didn't), but I don't have to like the idea of trying to gain something based on something other than merit.

I feel like the recent press this subs been getting has reeled in some unwanted menrights women haters. They'll latch onto any example of people behaving badly where the people happen to be women. This post is actually a great example of the business double standard, because if a man had done this i doubt op would have cared.

Im all for pointing out injustice, but the upvotes this post is getting shows our demographic is changing to a less critically thinking one.

[–]Senior Contributordeepthrill[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Eh, maybe, but I also point out when men get advantages on things other than merit. Like when a man receives privilege because of skin color, or when a man tries to use a "come on, man, help a fellow ...... out"

I would be disgusted with that too.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Eh, maybe

Maybe? That's a bs answer. Its either yes you agree or no you disagree. Maybe is betaspeak for ''yea you're right but I dont want to give it to you.''

People feel an association with others they share experience with. That's how fraternities work. That's why politicians all went to the same colleges. Its not something women do, and its something successful men do. This sub is for being a successful man. You are criticizing something successful men do. You are not helping anyone.

You're just wallowing.

"The women, instead of focusing more on the sales or future growth potential, decided to focus on the emotional appeal of the sharks. Reprehensible.''

I just want to point out that this behavior is not exclusive to women. While women are associated with it, remember that many of the great orators in history appealed to emotion, camaraderie, and such to convince people to follow them.

Napoleon didn't get soldiers to die for him by a carefully laid out business proposal. Hitler didn't use logic to get people to hate the Jews. And while Cicero was a master logician, he used equal parts appeal to emotion to sway an audience.

For Christ's sake, this is the preferred tactic of most politicians. MALE politicians.

After all, don't men do the same thing with brocode? "come on man, were both guys, you know how it is.'' or, ''sorry officer, she's my girlfriend and we got into an argument, you know how it is. She's just upset.'' This is a very common way to get what you want. Is it disgusting? I dont know, it seems too intrinsic to human nature to be considered so.

They coasted through life on their cards. Why stop at the finish line?

[–]Senior Contributordeepthrill[S] -1 points0 points1 point 12 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Hey I guess if that's worked for them so far, it's only rational for them to continue it. That's why people who allow these tactics to work are actually hurting society.

[–]Endorsed ContributorrebuildingMyself1 point2 points3 points 12 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

As a white male, I have so much privilege that I wouldn't understand what it'd be like to have so many obstacles in life. I'm glad they have overcome all those perceived inbalances by refusing to play to their differences.
