So recently Twitter and Facebook (and presumably Tumblr, but I'm not sure) have exploded with a new hashtag called "QuestionsForMen." I saw a link to HuffPo on facebook which had links to some of the more popular tweets under this tag. I'd like to take a moment to respond to some of them and then examine further in discussion.

Question to the male writers/speakers etc out there. Is it common for you to be called an ‘attention seeker’? Or do just women get that?

Hmmm. I'm a stand-up comedian. In school I constantly got called an attention seeker, a problem student, etc. by my teachers. In comedy I've been called hacky. I acknowledge that I'm an attention seeker. That's what speakers do. We have something to say, and to convey that message we need attention. In my childhood and teenage years the "attention-whore" label was pretty equally distributed. No "just women" don't get that, and it's not far from the truth in either sex when applied to ahem SPEAKERS.

QuestionsForMen: When you have a hostile disagreement with someone, is it common for them to say you’re angry because no one will fuck you?

About half the time no, but it's common for men to threaten eachother with physical violence. I have a friend here at Uni who is constantly acting like a tight ass and overthinking everything. And he's a virgin. And he gets a remarkable amount of flak for it, from both our male and female friends. The whole group almost universally decided that my friend needed to "stop being a loser and get fucked." The girls in our friend group tend to be the ones who attract a lot of orbiters of which my friend is one. Yes, he's mad because people of both sexes treat him like shit because nobody wants to fuck him - yet nobody has fucked him. He's trapped in the blue pill and he's pretty mad about it (he just doesn't realize why yet).

I'm starting a new business right now (which, while I'm here - anybody else doing the Shopify "build a business" competition?) and I've been told outright that it's awful and won't work. You know what I do? I tell doubters to fuck themselves and work harder. People shouldn't diss your ideas and your projects. Women - grow a fucking backbone and tell people who get in your way to fuck off. It's what any competent person, man or woman, of the past and present have done. They don't cry victim.

Circumcision is legal. Christians hate contraceptives and condoms. That's just as dumb in the eyes of a logical man as it is a woman.

I live in Chicago where there are over 500 murders a year. Yes, absolutely. Should you have to walk around being afraid of rapists? No. Of course not. Fuck rapists. Should I have to walk around afraid of murderers and muggers? No. Of course not. Fuck murderers and muggers.

QuestionsForMen how often do you have to fake laugh at stupid/cringey/creepy/sexist things older men say regarding you?

I'll give you that one. Most old men don't really creep on young men, only women. I haven't noticed the reverse happen. Ask our younger Christian choir boy friends, however... and they might have a different answer. I have had to deal with women telling me my girlfriend is too hot for me, outright calling me unattractive for no reason, etc. What old men TEND to do is (at least at bars and comedy clubs where I hang out regularly) is get drunk and act violent. Women also get touchy feely. My mother is a drunk and frequently makes passes and remarks to my friends since they were 13. And random women at comedy clubs have acted plenty creepy around me. It sucks, and you shouldn't have to put up with it - but it's not entirely one sided.

Another fun question for anybody who lives in the ghettos of any city. But ignoring that - I've seen cat calling. It's rude. It's obnoxious. It's not life-threatening. And anybody NOT just whiteknights would tell somebody who's legitimately assaulting a person to shut up.

Have you BEEN on the internet? Yes. Absolutely yes. They'll call you a faggot, insult your mother, say you should die, get raped, mock your intelligence. Yeah, that happens to everybody. No-one knows who these trolls are, but they certainly don't discriminate. Idiots act idiotic.

QuestionsForMen When out having a few beers, have you ever said "no" to a woman & then been hassled by her for the rest of the night?

Personally, I'm not one to go out drinking. I've been in situations where I was way too under the influence and taken advantage of in quite the interesting way though, a straight woman who I had previously hooked up with told multiple OTHER men at a party to go flirt with me. I was too far gone, they were gay, horny and also too far gone. I ended up hooking up with 2 gay dudes. This was not rape, I'm not going to exaggerate it, and I'm not comparing it to being drugged and fucked. But it's certainly a case of multiple men being taken advantage of by a sober woman. This isn't taking away the fact that there's too much rape, and I'm not sure if this girl reflects the average behavior or not - but it's happened once which means it's happened elsewhere. It's NOT a oneway street here with being harassed. And I'm not whining about it either. If I was raped I'd be complaining about it. An unfortunate hookup (regardless of if it was my fault) doesn't need to be a big upheaval in my life.

I've been asked how I'll- seriously? Is that even an argument? THat's a legitimate question. Yes. I've been asked how I'll balance work and school (I'm a student). That's a relevant god damn question.

Yes. By a (now-ex) girlfriend. And my mother. And other men.

No, but we also (by and large) don't get maternity leave, or have a physical need for said maternity leave. It's not like we literally have a countdown to not being able to physically perform aspects of our job properly.

Yeah, all the fucking time. Back when I lived in Connecticut, some of my female friends and I would drive around, and we'd both text eachother if we got home safe. My parents always want me to call them. My best friend Anthony and I always check up on eachother and buddy system the fuck out of Chicago.

Are you shitting me? That is straight up a non-gender based compliment. That has nothing even to do with the new bastardized version of feminism. And to answer the question YES. I call both men and women sweet hearts, and I'm called a sweet heart by men and women. My Dad (who is in his 70s) refers to his old friends from the Bronx and Boston as "sweet hearts of a guy." Honestly? Lame.
