The other day I posted a story on how a girl I was talking to disclosed to me that she had an STD, luckily before anything had happened. You can see the full story in my profile. But to summarized we talked for a bit and we almost had sex a couple times but due to what I thought was LMR we didn't. Then after a couple months she told me.

The curious part was as the comments started to come in a couple people were commending her for bravery in telling me. Saying that this trait was rare in girls and giving me advise on how to console her. While I didn't handle her like an asshole and kick her to the curb, I didn't commend her either. I simply stated that was heavy commitment for me to bear and I'm not up to that task.

My question to you guys is, is this behavior commendable? Women expect men to come clean relatively early about having kids, spouses, and so on. So why not let me make the decision early. Imagine if the story were posted on r/askreddit and she was the narrator and was talking about me. I'm pretty sure I would have been ridiculed for being irresponsible for almost having sex with her. And at least one person would have said the words "It's a mans duty to disclose this information".

In my opinion a girl telling me she has an STD is mandatory I know most girls wouldn't have and I was lucky she did but to me I don't think anyone should be commended on their responsibilities as a human. That would be like if every time you left a department store there was a guy standing there saying thank you for not stealing and patting us on the back. Or at your job every time you came into work your boss was there saying thank for coming into today. You shouldn't steal, you should go into work when your scheduled, you should alert other human beings if you have an infectious disease. That's just my opinion, what do you guys think?
