When I first began my TRP journey, I slept with an attractive girl on my first date, which was a massive success for me. My mentality going into the date was that I'd be lucky to make it 5 minutes, so just have fun with the failure. My mentality coming out was "maybe I'm alpha after all." My mentality going forward was "according to TRP, if I'm alpha enough, she'll make it happen." So, I assumed that I would get laid if I tried the same thing on every date going forward. I became invested.

I would dance around logistics, mood, and various date structures in order to force the exact same escalation pattern where it really didn't fit. This is what I mean by "trying." I thought I was being "direct" and "assertive." I was merely being (take your pick): needy, eager, outcome-dependent, aggressive, annoying, IMPATIENT, weak, etc. Obviously it didn't work very often... I'd get rejected, lose confidence, then try even harder on my next date in order to prove myself, which only made things worse. I took a break from dating (though I continued my atrocious bar game) and thought about it.

During that break, I had a few other experiences and witnessed other people make mistakes, which helped me to understand the problem. After learning all this, I decided to finally go out on another date. Logistics didn't work out for me to take her home, so I didn't even try. I escalated physicality slowly and only when it felt natural, even if that meant waiting. Towards the end of the date, I could tell that she was willing to sleep with me. But I didn't want to change my plans to make that happen. I became gatekeeper of both commitment AND sex. The result? She's now a plate. She's more attracted to me than any of the girls I slept with in my "needy" phase, despite the fact that she's hotter than almost all of them and has more male options in her social circle.

The take-away is that, the more you strain, the more effort that you have to put in to make sex (or LTR, or whatever) happen, the less it will work because "changing your course" just for her is unattractive. The "aggressive" style preached on TRP is not "hit the gym, then just grab asses on the subway until one bites." It is walking through open doors without hesitation. Knocking down a wall to put in a door is just needy, and it shows her that you struggle with getting laid.

When there's an opportunity to escalate, take it. When there is none, you need to create an opportunity by doing something that you would be doing with or without her. Notice the difference between going shopping and approaching a cute girl who smiles at you, and going to the mall with no shopping list just to approach girls. Chatting at a crowded bar? Tell her YOU want to get off your feet, then lead her to a seated area or the dance floor to escalate. Drag her with you on your way, but NEVER go out of your way just to create opportunities. If there are none, you're better to just keep her around and wait for one to come up rather than try to force it when it's unnatural.

On a related note, this is also why it's unattractive to make a big deal about lifting, career advancement, and style changes when you first start working on yourself. If you do it discretely and under the radar, it looks like a personal choice that you made for your own reasons. If you do it loudly and in a manner that demands attention, it becomes obvious that you're straining and putting in effort just to get laid, which is unattractive.

tl;dr NEVER "change course" for a woman (but you already knew that anyways)
