This study does not really conflict with the alpha/beta theory as it relates to a woman's cycle. The study simply says that women pretty much always find more masculine male faces to be sexier. Key point here is that women aren't interacting with beta males cause they think such men are sexy ... they are interacting with them for other reasons.

The linked study is reinforcing what we already know: the men who women find sexy and the men they get into relationships with are not always the same.

Also important to note that one study does not "prove" anything in science. It takes repeatedly getting the same finding across multiple studies.

It does state that women tend to prefer masculine men for short term relationships and feminine men for long term relationships. Given that women tend to be more interested in sex during ovulation and more interested in security outside of ovulation, I still think that's a strong case for the hypothesis. Also, I've seen some studies claim that it's more about masculine behaviour I.e arrogance and machismo that women are more attracted to during the peak of their cycle.

This doesn’t harm TRP theory at all. It is supporting evidence that shows (shocker!) that women never actually prefer feminine males.

Another left wing scientific bedrock blown out of the water. I’ve been hearing for years how women prefer masculine men only when they’re ovulating. Could it be... could it just be that the innate biases of the feminized male scientists doing the study actually do matter?

Would you ask bonobo, male or female, what kind of specimens it likes to mate with? Obviously no, you would develop some objective measure of their preferences; like the number of intercourses it has and with whom - given the choice. This is how science works. I don't see why suddenly, when it comes to homo sapiens, a closely related species, those researches throw their integrity out of the window.
