It seems like a good idea but I think we don't need it.

Reasoning is pretty simple. If marriage ends after seven years, the next person you marry is always a single mother. I'd personally live alone than resume someone else's saved game and play.

A woman could then extract resources from a beta and not be blamed at all because it's built into the design.

How about this crazy idea: enforce the vows.

"Till death do us part" - Marriage is now permanent, except in the case of death or cheating

"Forsake all others" - If she (or he) is caught cheating, the cheater loses everything. The house, the kids, their right to half the money and property.

That's how marriage was initially designed. Bring it back. Combine it with a moritorium on free welfare money and you will see people choosing to make much better decisions in mating

This just lowers the cost of divorce rape with a guaranteed payout. No need for a divorce attorney if the marriage is automatically null and void after year 7. How about just ending alimony.

I dont see how this would benefit the matriarchy - so its pretty much dead in the water. Politicians can't even fight for equal custody of kids without caving - I hardly doubt any will be able to push for temporary marriages

Then it's not marriage. Not mention what kind of fucked up situation would it be to raise kids in that environment. As a child of divorce just the stress of overhearing talks or threats of a split during my moms second marriage was enough to send me to therapy.

Any reasonable contract has a limited period of time. Pretty insane to agree to a lifetime contract of any kind. If you like a chick, hey, sign that 2 year deal. She does well enough, maybe another 2 years. She wants kids, you want kids? Sign for a longer term.

Temporary marriage is actually an Islamic invention. It exists in several middle eastern countries where sharia law holds official or semi-official status.

IMHO it's about as blue pill as a concept can be. It's used by guys who want to fuck an escort or have an affair without "sinning" by having sex outside of marriage. Clerics bring in a little extra cash by declaring temporary marriages as short as a day or 2, or as long as several years.

Fuck that! Just be open about hooking up with a woman instead of going through a bunch of legal & religious contorsions just to avoid losing some kind of religious claptrap like your 72 virgins.
