I know this isn't directly Red Pill but It has to do with the nature of critical thinking and interpreting Information. The Red Pill is a fairly logical mindset so I hope this would be appreciated here.

Now we know the difference between an opinion and a fact correct? It's elementary.

"X is Blue" is a fact. "Y is the greatest player of all time because he holds the most championships" is an opinion.

Fairly Simple

Now the statement "Red is my favorite color" is a PREFERENCE, not an opinion and many people get confused. They do overlap so it's understandable that there is confusion. An Opinion is something that is supported/formed by Facts. You cannot support an opinion with preferences because they cannot be proven true or false. You cannot also support an opinion with IRRELEVANT facts.

To Visualize it better, consider an opinion a Chair with 4 legs. If you knock away the legs, the base will fall due to lack of support. Same idea with Opinions and facts.

Let's illustrate using my earlier example of an opinion. So X is the greatest player right? What if Z actually has more championships? Does the earlier opinion hold together if Z is actually more accomplished then X? Not really, right?

That's how opinions can be wrong, and the notion that "Opinions can't be wrong" is bullshit.

I'm mainly typing this up after a friend of mine failed to understand the difference between opinions and preferences. As you come across information on the internet or just Reddit. Challenge opinions you come across by checking the facts they are based on. Also do this to your own opinions on certain things.
