This works very well because shifts the dynamic from something is not in your power (the other's judgement) to something depends entirely on you (how I will feel towards it). That's true confidence. I remember I used to just forcefully hope my efforts would be acknowledged by others. Instead it should be "I don't care if others don't, I do. I do this for me."
