Ok, so this circulated for a bit on my facebook newsfeed. I doubt it got much traffic to be honest, but the point it tries to cleverly make is a common one, and is seriously flawed. My intention is not to have a circlejerk of "yeah, bitch be crazy!" but instead, to dissect a common rallying theme from feminists:
"Guys need to stop thinking with their penises."
I commented on the initial poster (a dude)'s link saying this: "I realize this is a ‘performance’ piece, but there is something inherently wrong with the 'performer's' sentiment: sex is biology, and biology is at the root of all of our actions and interactions. You could extend this logic to say that my boner is the sole reason I did anything today, which – according to the author – I shouldn't have done at all. I could say “girls, please stop thinking with your ovaries” which on top of sounding extremely sexist, would also drastically limit all motivation girls had to do anything either."
So two main things here:
Absolutely everything we (all humans) do is driven by a biological drive to survive and reproduce. The fact that I went to work (or school), the gym, took guitar lessons etc... they all contribute to my life in that either they will help me get a mate, or sustain a family. It isn't hard to follow the rabbit down the hole to see that if I didn't think with my penis, I wouldn't think at all.
Hypocrisy! Suggesting that a women stop thinking with her ovaries... even for the hardened realists (and occasional misogynists), it is easy to see how that one would end.
In conclusion, the original article (and all the millions like it) are trying to limit the way a man behaves because it makes women uncomfortable (or jealous.. or whatever). The cool-headed response to this is to remind the haters that men and women behave differently, but operate under similar biological imperatives. Understanding instead of restricting is the only sustainable way to live in a world with (unfortunately for some) two genders. After all, we're all human and my penis doesn't detract or enhance that description of me.
**Alternately you could cocksmack them and say "bitch, I'll think, talk, and smack with my penis if I want"
