Disclaimer: This post is probably not strictly TRP but is not a criticism of it either, but it will be a bit 'stream of consciousness' and I hope it isn't too off topic. The end goal is to empower the individual, not to encourage submission to a group / slave ideology. Also when I start sentences with 'you' it's not meant as advice, but rather an observation, it's just the way I type.

Body:

When I first encountered TRP, I felt like it was an analysis of every Hollywood movie and tv show out there. The stereotypes in movies have been honed to such a precise degree that any viewer can immediately tell who is the beta and alpha characters, and I would propose every show has both. The difference from real life is that in movies the alphas are usually portrayed as good at sex but bad at relationships and with a machiavellian personality, and the beta is smart and a 'good guy'. The problem with entertainment though is that they are absolutely useless at educating the viewer about the content of the differences, they just use them as character templates for dramatic tension.

I think these kinds of personality types hit a deep chord with people, and that's why they work as entertainment, and I think TRP teaches us the alpha character while society leans toward the good guy beta. One observation I made is that TRP is a matrix because it changes when culture changes. Take for example the geek stereotype that was prevalent a decade+ ago. Geeks and nerds were usually portrayed as betas, and their hobbies were rejected in society. In the 40 year old virgin for example, Steve Carrell's character was shown trying to have fun by himself at home, but the whole scene was portrayed as pathetic rather than empowering due to his lack of SMV. But in the last few years, being a nerd has some more power, when society realized that being nerdy can help them learn technology and give them fun new toys, and so being interested in learning how things work is actually not a bad thing, or doesn't have to be. Also in general having skills can improve others lives when they get a positive experience via art, a gadget, a show and so forth so society can value individuals who can provide that without the sexual aspect.

That brings me to the other point. One of the most fundamental human dynamics is the aspect of giving and taking. In a group dynamic, people will crowd around the people they feel can give them something, and there will always be people around someone who can be of value. In order to have something to provide you have to your own mind, and you can only have your own mind by developing it and learning and doing things. It's not really a revolutionary idea. One of the main things betas in movies lack is that they are slaves to their environment, and nervous because they feel they probably don't have anything to contribute. This is almost neuroscience - you have to think and be a diverse brain and then that diversity will bring value to others, and this is more of a technical problem than anything else, although I think doing things while simultaneously thinking actively about the action is the best way to change the brain, and it happens almost automatically.

The third point is that even though TRP is good, it is in itself a matrix like everything else is. Human life is a physical accident, and we have evolved as a species as a modular set of biological components that have their own internal logic. This makes life fundamentally meaningless and a creation of our own. I think the only reason TRP and individualism has arisen, is because technology and capitalism has brought our species so closely together that the give and take dynamic has come out of balance, because all of society is basically a massive give and take, and freeing the individual is the best method for gaining the benefits of a society while enabling people to actually live lifes they want to live.

I think also the reason the give and take dynamic is out of balance is because we had a huge boom of technology which enabled people who are successful to give a little more to those who are not as lucky, and this is in part because of philosophy, civil society debate and so on. The government was the main way to institutionalize these activities, which leads to less efficiency and a kind of "automatic renewal" of the programs without judgment.

The whole point of this post is I think there is a larger story here. I think if we lived in a tribal or primitive society we wouldn't have the technology or government or resources to be able to suppress individuals needs for the system, and thus society would be a lot more red pill out of necessity. Maybe it's too off topic, but I think one of the main things a TRP guy can ask himself is, what does society need, what do I need, where are we as a species and what are our possibilities?
