I had been in a slump for the past few months with approaching women. My SMV had gone up and as a result women had been approaching me. However, this wasn't consistent and I was relying on this to meet women. Worst of all, I was avoiding it due to a fear of rejection.
After a few months of not approaching, I decided I had to break the streak. I went out to a club and set a goal of approaching ten women. Now, I don't usually think it's a good idea to set approach goals like this because it turns your kind of into a emotionless machine. However, for the purposes of breaking my streak, I did it. I also recorded each approach and the result.
Here are my results:
Hard Rejections: 2
Warm/Receptive: 5
Opened me: 3
HB6.5 HB 6 HB 5
The next day, I went to a day pool party and did the same thing. The results:
1 Neutral
3 Positive
1 Opened me
HB 4.5
This did a few things for me:
1) It showed me that fearing rejection is stupid. I will get rejected, but there will also be positive interactions.
2) It made me want to keep the streak going. I didn't want to have 10 opens on one night and then 0 the next day
3) It made me realize how much I need to improve with comfort building. I am decent at opening but once I open I really don't know what to do or say.
4) It also made me realize that the women who approach me are usually lower SMV than the ones I am approaching.
I don't think I will track every approach long-term. But like calorie counting, in the short-term if gives you a good idea of where you are and what you need to do to improve.
