Once a woman is pregnant, she can't get pregnant for another nine months. Why, then, does evolution dictate that she gets jealous if we fuck other women?

If she gets ditched by that guy, she's SOL. Hence why we (human females) have concealed ovulation. She can mate with the alpha, and also some betas, so in case she gets ditched by alpha she has his genes and betas to provide for her, and they have no idea it isn't their kid (or won't until it's years down the road).

Species without concealed ovulation tend to engage in infanticide.

This is very simple explanation...

AFBB... Ideally she would love to find this in a single man. The guy who provides the genetic contribution (AF) would in an ideal situation also be the guy who provides for her and her children (BB).

Now when he goes around fucking other women, it's reducing his value as a provider (BB) so the woman gets jealous.

Relative to other species, male parental investment is very high in Humans. A girl is jealous because she does not want to loose that investment in her children either in part or in entirety. She is concerned that a sexual relationship with the other woman will develop into a committed one, diverting the man's resources from herself and her children to the other woman and the other children.

And every day she is heavier, finds it harder to move, is more vulnerable to predators and really needs a protector to be around. And then she has kids, older, less attractive, and really needs a protector and provider to be around. And really does not like if the protector - provider is off chasing younger tail.

This need of a woman with kids for a protector and providers, despite her lower SMV, is what drives it. And this is why female jealousy is worse than the male one. In the genetic past, no man could meant death for her and her offspring. For men, a dry spell was just uncomfortable but there are plenty of fish later to catch.

If all women needed was a sperm sack, there would be no reason to evolve a whole man around it who can spear mammoths and suchlike.

This is also why old women are the best guardians of prudish, chaste morals. Not men. Men have little to gain if all women are chaste. But you can trust any old hag that she will try her hardest to implement social mores that make any young hottie married off and 100% faithful so that she does not compete with her for the guy who is feeding her kids.
