I recently watched the "House of Lies" series. And let me tell you, that shit is GOLD. To sum it up in a sentence, it is a show about corporate world where how you are perceived matters and there is always some sort of a game that is being played to "Win". So basically, exactly like life.

Marty Kaan (Sounds a lot like "Con", I think it is a clever symbol but could be just my imagination.) is the main character who is a Dark Triad, psychopath and many other things. To paraphrase his quote,

Kid this is the most valuable lesson you will learn, before you get into business with someone, KNOW their ANGLE!

Marty said that quote after he royally fucked over a prospect to benefit himself.

That line really resonated with me. Think about it, just about every type of relationship you have in this world is a transactional one.You want something, you do something in order to get that. You do it in a way that BENEFITS YOU sometimes honestly, sometimes not so much.

Some examples: Going to the dentist, you pay him. Want to sleep with a girl, provide/demonstrate some sort of value. Want some friends to hang out with, have something fun to do.

In all of the above examples, the second you are not paying and don't have some sort of value the relationship ceases to exist.

Now here is where the ANGLE comes in:

Lets say you need money to go travel, you get hired and tell your new boss you are looking to "stick around" but you wont say that you will stick around only until you have enough money to go travelling.

If you are the owner of the business in this situation, you wont know that the newly hired "perfect candidate" is going to split as soon as he/she has made enough money. So the business spends time to training you but a few months after that you will have enough money the business will have to do that whole process again.
