Don't go looking for a quick fix because you won't find one. I'm sorry to say it's almost certainly going to be a long road. It's going to take time to correct the mindset society has ingrained in you. Learning game is not about memorizing material, it's about the bigger picture and having the appropriate mindset. Specifics will come to you once you've adopted the mindset and trained yourself to take control. I have not read any books or seen any DVDs on the subject and honestly I won't ever pay for anything like that. There is plenty of material online that should get you on your way. It's not going to come quickly. You can't read a book or go to a seminar and instantly have game. When you read material online try to imagine yourself as the alpha all the writers are talking about. When you read a critique of beta behavior that hits home, detach yourself emotionally. Identify what part of your mindset allowed you to behave in such a way and purge it (not always easy). Fake it til you make it. The only thing to watch out for in my opinion is emulating the behavior and not the mindset. A lot of people try to emulate alpha behavior without understanding the reason for the behavior (beyond the fact that it appears to attract girls) and a lot of people can see through that.

It's going to be painful to look back only a few months and think of your adult self as a child, but I assure you it's worth it.

Okay, my advice will be a little different here goes...

You just live like you want. I used to live for girls I was in a relationship with, or, at least, tried to live up to their expectations/societies' expectations -- which is work hard, be successful, blah blah blah.

Then I realized I hated that shit, and what I really liked to do is party, drugs, lift weights. You can't make a lifestyle of this and be the standard boyfriend material -- the kind of guy the girl wants to bring home to her parents.

So I quit doing that. Now I work about 25 hours a week (accountant, which affords me the ability to put in my hours in a nice environment), spend the rest of my time reading, going out, lifting, doing nothing much at all often. I do better with women now since I am living life on my own terms. I have just enough money for partying and stuff, live in a small apartment on the beach (!). I supplement my income by working as a rent boy (i.e., escort) for gay men -- and obviously, this is something most people won't do, but I see it as far preferable to picking up another job to make ends meet.

If you live life as you really want, then you won't need Game, since that is GENUINE.

experience will be your number 1 teacher. go out, approach, get shot down, and when you repeatedly hit a sticking point then and only then should you be looking for assistance. a lot of guys start out trying to find a magic bullet to solve all the problems. sadly 1 does not exist.
