You're reading my post as a response to your own writings on psychopathy, rather than as a response to the mainstream/academic/manosphere view of it. I've just read through your series on psychopathy and it's very good.

Pathological lying is not bad in and of itself, but it will degrade others' trust in you and make other goals harder to achieve. Same goes or impulsivity, lack of restraint, failure to accept responsibility, etc. Whatever your goals, you probably won't get far in life if you're not surrounded by high-quality people who trust you. "It's a very common paring, especially in high level CEOs." "Your blog post is of very low quality." This is a good example of someone trying very hard to 'appear' dark…

At higher levels of organizations, pretty much everyone is on the same page. It's not that everyone is evil, but they accept manipulation as a fact of life. It's a game.

Money is cheap. Powerful people already have plenty of money. The real prizes are political power, and the minds of young western people. Saying that this is "just about money" vastly understates the problem, and makes it sound easier to solve. It might be comforting to believe this is a simple matter of rich people trying to get a bit more rich, but it's much darker than that.

Agreed which is why I don't write much about fitness. 90% of what you need to know is stronglifts + steak and eggs, 99% is covered by guys like Mangan and D+P. I think the LIFT LIFT LIFT tone of TRP is a good thing and I hope you guys keep emphasizing it, but it's also good to start exploring new territory?

All true, which is why this post recommends four months of reading followed by eight months+ of actually starting a small business. Re internships, that's a really good idea for a follow-up post, thanks.

That would be incredibly valuable, I guarantee people would be interested in it. I also promise there will be people who will hate on you. Ignore them, they are poor and jealous. You will help good people and alienate those with a weak mindset.

This post is about making money in the real world, as an alternative to the 'make money online' cult, which I wrote about here: The Secret. I'm also not selling anything, unless you count Amazon links. Do you have a recommendation for a better resource for young men who want to learn about business?
/r/TheRedPill05/05/15 04:33 PM

Yup. If making $ is off topic, wouldn't lifting weights be off topic as well? Rhetorical of course. TRP is a useful frame to think about money, because you're already open to the idea that mainstream society is wrong about big questions. Everyone tells you to go to college, but isn't that the same 'everyone' that tells you girls like nice guys?

You're pretty fatalistic about the commercialization of every aspect of modern life. Don't you think it's possible to create a subculture with ethics and standards? I'm not opposed to marketing, I'm opposed to scammers degrading the trust and cohesion of this community.

I had low expectations for r/TRP. I thought it would be overrun by the dorks that make up 99% of Reddit users within a few months. As someone who's been writing a "Red Pill" blog since 2010, I was happy to see someone take a shot at building a subreddit, but it seemed like an exercise in futility. Most people won't realize how good a job RedPillSchool has done here. Online communities are incredibly fragile, and it would have been so easy for this subreddit to become useless. The fact that it ha…

Actually I'd say the opposite. Monk Mode is for guys who are already doing well socially and with women. It's a voluntary cutting off of social and non-productive uses of time. The real hard cases - 20+ virgin, no friends, etc - should focus on getting out into the world, not spending an extra 10 hours/week lifting weights and reading Plato.

I have no experience with severe depression. But here are my thoughts on the most productive way to view minor and moderate depression: 95% of "depressed" people do not have a medical problem; they're just having an adaptie response to poor life circumstances. Think about it. If your life sucks and you're walking around feeling great, something is wrong with you. You're not experiencing the negative emotions that will incite you to improve your situation. I recently went through two months of mo…

If you started a business with your best friend, would you agree to a formal contract that gives him full rights to destroy the business and ruin you financially whenever he wants? No. It doesn't matter how much you trust him. The man obviously trusts and loves the girl, otherwise he wouldn't be willing to settle down with her. From his perspective, he is offering her everything he has, minus the option of a lucrative divorce for her. I'm guessing he's the archetypal conflicted Red Pill man who …

Here's a good goal if you really don't want to make waves with your friends: Just try to always be th guy drinking less than anyone in the room. never be the guy who says "let's get one more round." Finish your drinks slowly and find a reason to slide away when people are doing shots or whatever.

Life is painful for the psychologically exceptional, and many self-medicate. Most men are not Hemingway though. For every genius alcoholic, there are a hundred thousand begging for change in the street. I also wonder just how much these self-proclaimed alcoholic artists actually drink. It's something of a brag, "I made this great piece of art... AND I was drunk." Google handicap principle.

"Nofap psychos" You seem to really have a problem with people trying new things to improve themselves. Every man has his own weaknesses, and there will always be people like you trying to drag them down when they want to fix those weaknesses. Skinny guy goes to the gym? He's a loser gym rat. Fat guy wants to lose weight? He's a paleo/keto nutbar. Guy masturbates way to much? He becomes a Nofap psycho. Do you deny that some men have a problem with alcohol? Or excessive masturbation? Or do you jus…

If you drink moderately and responsible, you lack the reading comprehension to see that you are not the intended audience. If you don't think that alcohol is a problem for a lot of young men, I'm guessing you're not American, or you've never been a part of college frat/athletic culture? Do you have any idea how much these people are drinking? If you DO drink a lot, this comment is just rationalizing your self-destructive behaviour. I know because I've been there and I recognize it. I agree with you, boys are great at sitting still and learning. But they need competition, and the ability to push their limits, both of which are denied in an education system that focuses on the bottom 20%. Maybe that paragraph should have been clearer.

Have fun getting paid 60k a year to write software that makes billions for the networking cult. More constructively, read this: http://www.kalzumeus.com/2011/10/28/dont-call-yourself-a-programmer/ Know more about technology than all the business guys, and know more about business and networking than all the engineers. You'll be dangerous.

Yes you can. The point of this post is to teach you how to do it - not by showing you a "trick" but rather to show you the mindset you must develop to attract and retain high-value people to your life. But I guess everyone in this thread believes that social interactions are magic voodoo that we can't learn, understand, and improve.
/r/TheRedPill13/05/14 03:45 PM

You missed the entire point. Outgoing, friendly, and good networking skills are all learnable skills. Being physically attractive is too, for the most part. If you don't believe in improving yourself, why are you here?

It is a contradiction. Good observation. Unfortunately life rarely offers simple rules to follow. Instead it's more like: If X, do Y, unless Z, in which case A or B, depending on C. Chicks dig jerks. Fact. But if you try to 'game' men the same way you game women, you will fail horribly. High-value men want to associate with other men who are decent, honest, and trustworthy. Some principles apply in both contexts, but for the most part it is a completely different game. Don't be a pushover when d…

I'm of the same mindset as you. Having children and raising them in a traditional family is a non-negotiable goal in my life. It's unfortunate that our present laws and culture will make this a challenge, but that's life. Here's an old post I wrote on the subject: http://www.thumotic.com/how-to-find-a-wife/ The most important part is: Accept that you will probably fail. Lose your kids, lose your $, maybe even lose your freedom. But like I said, this is a non-negotiable value. Besides, the USA is…

I went to a Canadian school with no frat scene, but I would definitely join a frat if I were an American freshman today. Good-Looking Loser has a great series on the college social scene which is a must-read for any young college-bound guys: http://www.goodlookingloser.com/entry/college/misconceptions-about-college-part-6 One way to tell if an institution is good or not, is to ask whether feminists/progressives hate it. While it's true that you never want to judge a girl, or come across as sexually judgmental, in front of a girl you want to bang. It;s nice to leave girls with a better understanding of the world, the sexual marketplace, and their place in it. Of course this only comes out after many bangs, but I level with girls about what sort of woman I will eventually be looking to settle down with. This can be painful for them, but it's an essential reality check. It gives them a better chance to salvage wha…

It's an interesting bit of game theory: Put out non-judgmental player vibe --> succeed with sluts, repel good girls. Put out "good guy" vibe --> fail with sluts, appeal to good girls. It would be a hell of a conundrum, if there were actually any girls who preferred nice guys over players.

Bad Karma, I definitely don't regret taking a year off work to travel, but I do regret some aspects of how I went about it. I spent about 50% of my time focused on personal growth, and 50% focused on partying. If I could do it over again, I would re-balance that to about 80% growth, 20% partying. Taking any sort of gap year, even a lazy and unfocused one, is a better decision for most men than continuing to live a life of routine. But in retrospect, I would advise my younger self to take a year …

We might not disagree so much. I like nice cars and expensive toys as much as the next fella. But I won't buy them until they are insignificant purchases for me. When you have a million in the bank, an 80k car is a great idea. But when you're graduating, maybe with debt, making OK money, and setting up the rest of your life? I say o car, unless you need one for work, in which case get something cheap.

I'll resist the urge to make an r/atheism joke and leave a constructive comment instead. You don't need to believe in God to humble yourself before a higher power. If you can't even consider the possibility of a God, try experimenting with mushrooms, ayahusca, salvia, acid. Read up on the power of NLP, affirmations, visualization. Or just keep doing what you're doing, if it's working out for you.

I am the OP and you are agreeing with me, but let me also make the opposite point: It's easy to say, "Get confident, then get laid." But in practice, it is very hard for a young man to feel confident if he is not getting laid. I don't think it's realistic to expect men to completely decouple sex and self-esteem. A young guy without a lot of sexual experience should not feel bad about getting an ego boost from sex. Just be aware that you should be trying to grow out of that.

"Education is life enriching" Is college the only place a man can educate himself? The key concept here is opportunity cost. My college experience was valuable, compared to the alternative of sitting in a room by myself eating saltines for half a decade. But compared to starting a business, moving to China, learning a trade, or any number of alternatives, I don't think college is the best option unless you're going to a top school and getting a real degree that is directly relevant to something …

I disagree. Talk about the Red Pill. Proselytize. Be unapologetic. You will alienate some people, and that's fine - you're better off without them. Others will disagree but respect your conviction. A small number, when led to water, will drink.

Feminism is not about Women Vs Men. Feminism actually harms women far more than us. Feminism is just one head of the left-wing hydra, and it is just one example of the many bad trends that have accelerated in the 20th century. If you reject the idea of "male privilege" you should probably also take a closer look at "white privilege." If you reject the conclusions of academics who claim that men and women are biologically equivalent, you should probably re-evaluate the conclusions of academics wh…

I actually don't have anything against the theory of MGTOW, and I know that technically it is compatible with men who pursue women. It's just that in practice the MGTOW movement is filled with losers who just want to drag other men down to their level. They are mostly older men, and they get off on playing "guru" to young impressionable guys. Yes, celiac and gluten sensitivity are real, but neither affect me. However, some claim that any minor gluten contamination will still result in low energy and poor health in the long term even for those who don't immediately experience symptoms. Is that true? I don't know. But pretending it is enforces a zero tolerance policy on beer and grain.

You have nothing to gain by being openly judgmental. Call her a slut and she'll just know to keep sexual stuff from you in the future. If you are completely non-judgmental and unafraid to talk to her about her past, 1) she will be more attracted to you, 2) she will teach you a lot about how women view sex, and 3) you will be able to return to her life later on as "the cool guy who she can call for sex between bfs without feeling like crap." Also the fact that you are care about her past suggests…

So basically, 21st century US college campuses are the safest place in the world for women. And yet that's where feminists concentrate their hysteria. I'll just wait for principled feminists to start leading the charge against real, actual rape culture in Africa and the Middle East. Any day now.

One of the most common tactical failures of the right is to adhere to the rules of logic in rhetorical debate. Logical debate can only occur between sporting men of good faith. In the wider world of rhetoric, logic is just one of many tools. Internally (such as on this sub) the pursuit of truth is helped by a commitment to adherence to the rules of logic. But out on the street, you've got to play by street rules. Mockery is a rhetorical tool, not a logical one, and I would argue that one of the …

Men's Rights and Red Pill guys have similar opinions on a lot of issues, but here is the key difference: MRAs ask. TRP takes. MRAs seek change by appealing prostrate to the sympathy of the world, modeling their 'movement' on feminist, civil rights, gay rights movements. TRP recognizes that victimhood politics only works for approved victim groups, so we focus on taking what we want.

I should write more about this but I think there are two mindsets to deal with approach anxiety, and overcome the completely natural fear of approaching strange women in non-club environments. One is to de-pedastalize girls to the point where you're putting yourself on a pedestal relative to them. Good analogy. It works the other way too. I wouldn't want to go out drinking with the type of guy I would want to be a technical partner. Different people are good for different roles. Feminists object to "creepy" guys like Roosh dating younger women for the same reason they object to men expressing preference of thin women, feminine women, non-slutty women, etc... feminists are not young, thin, pretty, chaste, or any of the other things that men desire in women, so they seek to stigmatize male standards. OP here and I have no shame at all about my double standards. Partly because I'm a dick, and partly because the bible considers female pre-marital sex to be a much graver sin than male fornication. Do a search of "Freedom Twenty-Five" + "Christianity" but the gist is that, from the perspective of the bible, it is impossible for a non-virgin woman to re-marry. He is an extreme Muslim in the sense that he reads the books that supposedly define Muslim's beliefs, and he is living and speaking as if those teachings are true. Christians and Jews who do the same are similarly 'extreme.' Non-extreme Muslims and Christians are basically Feminist/Leftists who retain a few of the cultural markers of their ancestors religions. It's hard to choose who to pay attention to when all you have is words on a screen. Eventually you start to notice patterns though. The big one I look for is: Does guru X seem genuinely motivated by the desire to help other men, or does he just get off on 'playing guru'?

In theory yes, but we are talking about very differences in behaviour and frame that are so subtle, it's hard to formally lay out every argument. There's plenty of double-blind research on creatine. It's not (just) a placebo. I have cycled all of the Noots listed in the article (OP here fyi) and aside from the fact that it sucks to feel less awesome than you are on, say, Modafinil, there is no long term degradation in 'natty' cognitive ability. If anything it's the opposite, noots -> permanent increases in focus and intelligence. Also fyi you should be taking creatine every day, not just when lifting.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a straight up roman a clef, but there is that aspect to it. My goal was to write a novel that stood on the strength of its characters alone though, and make those characters realistic rather than just cardboard archtypes of good thinking/bad thinking. Ian embraces red pill thinking, but turns his back on any sense of duty. Jason is the flip side of that. Nick, whatever other flaws he has, is the one character who completely embraces his own agency in life.

Was the plot simple? In a way, yes, since it's really only about three characters. But there's a lot going on within those three characters and their relationships. I'm glad you got that it the ending wasn't as simple as "Ian won." Each of three characters had their own strengths and weaknesses, as I wrote them anyways.

Minimalism and smart personal finance make it easier to do great things, not harder. It's pretty hard to start a business or take a great new job overseas if you've got a mortgage, car payments, and no cash in the bank. Ruxman, glad I could make a difference. There are a variety of reasons why some men are slow to take the Red Pill. I think I may write a post on this. I find that the men who read Red Pill sites fall into two categories: Guys who are already killing it, and guys are pretty bad cases. Check thumotic tomorrow morning for more thoughts on this... The PUA movement is an overwhelmingly good thing. I'm not ashamed to call myself a pickup artist. Guys love to hate on PUAs and come up with new banners t…

Hey All, thanks for the solid questions. I'm taking off for now but I'll be checking back periodically for stragglers. Don't forget to PM me if you want to check out the new book. Cheers, Frost

Great question. We can't be the sort of "traditional" men that our great-grandfathers were. But we can ask: What would our great-grandfathers do, if they were young today? How would they adopt their principles and beliefs to the circumstances we face? When I consider the modern state of affairs from this perspective, I see just one possible conclusion: Our forefathers would want to dedicate their lives to overthrowing our incompetent, criminal, and soon to be despotic ruling elite.

Keoni, now I feel like a cunt for not including you in my list of favourite bloggers below. Readers, know that this man is one of the all time greats. I loved training Muay Thai. Fucking loved it. I never fought a proper match. I like my brain too much and honestly I never got to a point where I was a good enough fighter to step into the ring. I got righteously fucked up doing hard sparring on a daily basis though. I'm not fighting now, but I spend a lot of time on the heavy bag and I may get ba…

Start small. Comment, tweet, post more on Reddit. Start a practice blog. Read Matt Forney's Three Tiers Of Online Hustling. Don't put too high of expectations on your initial effort. Not every blog has to change the world, often it's just nice to remind people that they're not crazy, that there are other successful men out there who think as they do.

There are way too many great writers out there to list, and Private Man is definitely one of them. Also deserving a shout out: Naughty Nomad, Bill Powell, Bronan, Captain Capitalism, Vox Day, Aurini, Chuck R, Danger and Play.. and probably a few others I've forgotten. Twitter all stars who really should start blogs already: Kalim Kassam and Pax Dickinson. Sometimes people ask me if Koanic Soul is one of the most interesting and important bloggers out there, or if he is insane. The answer is: Yes…

I'm hesitant to give away too much of the book, but I'll just say that its not as predictable as one might think after reading a few chapters. I would also be careful about describing Ian and Jason as archetypes so early. The characters are much less two-dimensional than that - each is their own unique mix of alpha and beta, right and wrong. Glad you're reading it!

Definitely. Also my favourite spot to trawl for primary sources.

Trial by fire. TO and DC are the two major hubs of pickup artistry in North America. Why? Because they're the worst cities for cold approaching men. London is similar I hear, hence the big scene there. Overall though I think Canadian girls are great and most Canadian cities are prime hunting grounds, with the exceptions of TO and maybe Calgary. People say Vancouver is hard but I lived there for a year and killed it, even while studying 70 hours a week and spending my weekends on road trips for r…

I believe you left one of the first ten comments on my blog, so yeah you're definitely in the long-time reader club. Thanks for reading, and for the questions. 1) Unlike a lot of guys, I didn't have much of a transition to make from Blue to Red Pill thinking. I was a Libertarian/Objectivist in my early teens, so I got used to having unpopular opinions and thinking everyone around me was nuts from a young age. Intellectually, reading Moldbug was a major step for me. As far as women, dating a few …

I wrote a post on finding a wife here: http://www.thumotic.com/2013/01/08/how-to-find-a-wife/ I will most likely marry a western woman. There are good ones out there. Can I be sure I won't get fucked? Of course not. But at some point you just have to make the best bet you can, cover your ass as best you can, and roll the dice.

Hopefully both. I'm not making near enough money on book sales to quit working, but I think I will be soon. Even if I do though, my ideal lifestyle would include stints of working in finance/business development, combined with long periods of travel/vacation/writing.

The Red Pill at its core is the prioritization of truth over cant. So I'd say it's useful in all aspects of life. Truth is always more effective than lies. Specifically, I think embracing the Red Pill counter-culture gives you a huge informational advantage over your peers. The implications to your investment portfolio of recognizing the end stages of the decline of the west are obvious, but you can also use your perspective to forecast trends that will be invisible to anyone still wearing PC-bl…

Very hard question, but I'll try and do it justice. The most important writer and thinker of our time is Mencius Moldbug. It is simply not possible to have an intelligent opinion on any major political or historical question, without having seriously grappled with the Moldbug worldview. For any readers who haven't heard of him, start with An Open Letter To Open-Minded Progressives. Be warned, it's a massive book-length 12-part series. * Roissy/Heartiste is also in a category of his own. * Other …

Thanks man, I'm really glad to hear that. make sure you PM me and get a free copy of the new novel. As for adjusting to life back home, it hasn't been that difficult at all. I love my friends and family, I like my city, and I love Canadians. My game plan now is to move to one of the East Asian financial hub cities (HK, Singapore, Beijing, Chengdu, or wherever) in autumn 2013. But for now I'm committed to a year of employment, rent, cell phone and gym fees in Canada, and I've been having a great …

I agree, fight or flight is the big question. But the question isn't whether we join the doomed mainstream Conservative movement and turn the tide of decline by, I guess, working on the Marco Rubio 2016 campaign. Rather we have to decide whether to abandon the west entirely and seek better fortunes abroad, or do we start laying the foundation for a counter-revolutionary movement to pick up the pieces and rebuild after it all comes crashing down. I admit I have sympathy for the "I'll be poolside"…

To each their own. Revolving harem is my preferred lifestyle at the moment. Monogamous relationships can be great when you've got the right girl, and I would eventually like to have children. One night stands can be fun but in general if I sleep with a girl and have a good experience, I want to repeat that experience.

You know basically nothing about nutrition. I highly recommend you re-read my post, click through to MDA, Kurt Harris, Martin Berkhan, and others, and re-think everything you think you know. I maintained 10-12% BF at 220lbs in my freshman year of college while drinking probably fifty beers a week. How did I do it? I was 18 and playing rugby 15 hours a week. You can get away with a lot when you train hard, especially if you're young. Doesn't mean it's optimal. Try spending a week replacing your p…

Way Of Men by Donovan Fight Club by Palahniuk

The Red Pill is so much more than Game. It's about a renaissance of masculinity. Banging a bunch of chicks is often the first step that a man takes in that direction - and a lot of men, myself included, continue to bang a lot of chicks even as they continue their search - but it's all much deeper.

Actually, two of the best contemporary writers on masculinity/red pill issues are gay men - Donovan and Palahniuk. Gay guys have a particular interest in understanding and defining masculinity, because they can't make up for their confusion by banging a bunch of chicks and calling it a day, the way most of us straight guys do.

Sugars, we actually agree. I just worded the sub-heading poorly. Organic meat, check out what VZPurp below has to say about fat ratios in grain-fed vs grass fed. But I doubt that's even the main advantage to avoiding anti-biotic/hormone/chemical filled factory farmed meat. I admit that there is not much hard evidence for the efficacy of juicing, but anecdotes, personal experience, and my own assumption that man in his EEA consumed a lot more vegetables than we presently do, leads me to juice. An…

Guns Germs and Steel is over-rated but other than that I second all those recommendations. My copy of Meditations is a pretty modern translation, but I'll try and find something older. Thanks for the tip. FYI I am the author, so thanks for the kind words for "his" list.

Author here. I don't think a man necessarily has to be a Christian, to benefit greatly from considering the world through a Christian lens, or to appreciate the bible as a great source of moral and practical wisdom.
