Cultists typically tie their own self worth back into that which they worship, so you can typically tell if someone is a cultist when their "brand" is insulted or upheld with less than admirable respect.

Until a movement has a complete ideology and rulesets that are treated as truths it can't be a cult.

If someone was to drop an article disagreeing with something we hold to be true, how offended would you be? And if someone found a better rule of thumb to describe red pill phenomena, how offended would you be? And if the very name "TheRedPill" was refered to in a derogatory way, how offended would you be?

Obviously we want to believe we are a part of something just, but the real trick is to ensure that every individual within the group doesn't find his own self-worth from the name and the principles tied to that name, but finds his self-worth by contributing to the development and verification of the core principles.

This brings to mind a rooshv post where he said RSD is basically creating an even more toxic dating environment by teaching men they need to approach an insane number of women to get laid. Something I agree with roosh on. This caused quite the stir in the comments section where rather than accepting a simple flaw in their ideology, they attacked roosh in every imaginable way possible without providing any real substance defending their "approach 100 chicks a day" mentality, and more importantly, the possibility that it might be contributing to a more toxic dating environment. This is when you know your self-worth has been defined incorrectly in my opinion.

Fuck what anyone else has to say about this. I don't know any man in a better situation than the one I'm in, and I moderate here. So... Who can really tell me whats best? Someone in a pathetic beta scenario?

People who don't embrace this deserve the hell they will live in. Those who internalize it, deserve the kingdom they reign over.

There are some potentially dangerous and brain-washy, religious elements and some aspects might be over-emphasized but it's definitely not a cult. Missing ingredients are:

Coercion. Sociopathic leadership. Isolation and physical separation from society and friends. Group-first mentality and secrecy.

In fact the tendency is to encourage independence, self-improvement, openness, and empiricism. Sometimes I think hypergamy and solipsism are way overplayed as explanations and come close to the role of boogeyman at times, but it's not the sort of pervasive, repetitive ideological dogma that is characteristic of a real cult.
