Why does the tech media feel like we NEED more women writing code?

The agenda nowadays seems to be to achieve this dream goal of 50/50 gender split in every job, sport, etc.

The basis for this agenda is that men and woman do not have innate differences (everything is cultural). This is of course bullshit, therefore the agenda is bullshit.

I had a friend who wanted to learn how to code. After 3 months, he got paid employment doing just that.

How? Because instead of bitching, he took some courses to improve his skills. He busted his ass to learn and practice those skills working long hours each day. He had the drive and determination to achieve something, and then set about doing it.

Nothing stops these women from learning how to code, or write PHP, or learn networking themselves. I know this because I've done it myself, and I've seen plenty of others do it. You can learn a lot by yourself with all the resources online these days.

So what stops them? Simple, they're either too lazy or unwilling to do it. Meanwhile, the 16 year old teenager who got off his ass to learn PHP and web development in his spare time is considered a "loser". Yet a few years later, the same people deriding his efforts are bitching about a lack of women, and handing over money to the women who didn't give a fuck before.

You're a woman and want to get into the tech industry? Go and pick up a fucking textbook and learn, instead of whining for a cheque and complaining about how unfair it is.

Its a ploy by big tech companies to drop/stagnate wages under the guise of equality etc. same principal as feminism in the 70s

More available workers = more power to employers.

Feminists somehow got fixated on IT/nerd culture in general and are now looking for any signs of sexism they can find there (probably because they ran out of other things to complain about). The number of female programmers is just one of the things they fixated on. And this "problem" is here to stay since women just aren't as interested in programming as men are, so the number will likely never be 50/50 and they will keep bitching.

Imo the real fault lies within the men of the Industry (which I am a part of though I do not live in the US). They drank the Kool-Aid the feminists have supplied and became their accessories in a move that could seriously damage the industry. If they had fought back and told the femnists to stop bullshitting (or just ignored them), the whole thing wouldn't be an issue just like nobody cares about the other male-dominated industries. By acknowleding it as a problem, they have placed themself in their mercy and if the past is any indication, their new overlords will never be satisfied. It is pathetic, but there is not much we can do. We can only hope it won't do too much damage.

...and another point: I'm senior on the project I'm currently working on and had a hell of a time with the junior guy I'm working with. Basically he couldn't deal with (objective, non personal) critique in code reviews without taking it personally and getting upset. Basically reacting like an emotional women when my only goal was maximising the quality of his work. Goddam, if I was actually overseeing a real women... Shudder

This whole affirmative action with females in technology is completely bullshit. I have a female friend who graduated ECE with decent grades, hell better grades than I did (in CE), and even though she slaved away in undergrad just like the rest of us, she gets no fucking respect.

Many of her colleagues and even alumni constantly make jokes about how she got to where she is using her sex, which is completely bullshit. There are few women I respect, and seeing one of my best mates (literally the ONLY girl in ECE out of a class of 60+) get treated as a joke because of other women that climb up using their sex is just awful to watch.

What's going on right now with the pseudo-inflation of women in tech is essentially

denying equal opportunity to males
giving positions to females who aren't as qualified
denying the opportunity to advance for females who actually want to succeed with their own merits

People honestly give way too much fucks about gender equality. I honestly don't know why these insecure betas in tech can't just focus on improving themselves instead of constantly knotting their panties about the fact that some women are actually capable. Now we get all this tangled gender bullshit in the industry that hurts both the male AND the females who are actually capable. Hurray.

Seriously though the worst professor I had in college was a female who got a huge grant to study why women don't take technology jobs.
