I live in the UK and I got into a 'debate' with someone who was a proudly declared Socialist the other night - I used to have a moron friend that scoffed and sneered at me when I said Socialism/Communism wasn't a spent force in our country, just a dormant one - so this was simultaneously edifying and worrying.

Now I'm a pretty good communicator in general and I'm happy to see things from another's perspective and concede a lack of perfection in my own ideas so that I can open a potentially hostile individual to see things from another angle - BUT - this guy was just a fucking brick-wall and couldn't wait to start tossing labels at me and making broad, sweeping statements about how The Left does good simply because it isn't The Right.

I agree with you that it needs to be stopped OP, and I've seen Jordan discuss Post-Modernism before, but it's a losing battle pal. The Left has become far too indoctrinated in their Proxy religion and Post-Modernism has been the kindling for that fire.

If I'm responsible for something, I'd better fucking own it.

Too much these days involves making men work for something, making men responsible for its well-being, and then (after they do all the work) it's taken away from them. Men are told to "grow up" when they conclude this is a shitty deal.

Examples: your job, your marriage/wife, your house, your wealth, your car, your children.

All expect total commitment. All get taken away from you on someone else's whim. You work for these things, then you're beholden to other people to allow you to keep what you already earned.

Everything and everyone has let me down in life except one thing. There is only one thing that has always worked, always been there for me, never let me down when I've needed it and has worked with 100% reliability.

That thing is money.

The most hilarious and depressing thing about Post-Modernism is at its core, they don't believe in truth. Facts and evidence have no sway. How in the world can you convince someone of your point of view, or even find common ground, when factual evidence is not their currency. At its core, Post-Modernism is so easily refutable. That is what makes this whole thing mind boggling.

You have to be smart to be so goddamn stupid, and that's what these University Marxists are. Post-Modernism maintains that all truth is subjective; there are many different stories, and many different facts depending on your personal circumstances, the balance of power and the perspective lens through which you are viewing the situation.

Isn't it funny how the claim, "All truth is subjective," is an objective claim? This is literally a self-refuting ideology. All truth is subjective except for your Post-Modernist garbage eh? Post-Modernism itself is the one objective fact we have.... The lunacy of this. And all of it comes from a Marxist realm of thought. Marxism truly is the greatest ideological cancer to ever affect society.

If you ever run into a real Deconstructionist, be sure to ask abt Paul de Man. He is was considered to be a founder of the movement, but then it turned out he had a raging case of "Waldheimer's" Disease where you conveniently forget that you used to be a NAZI. /smirk

Beyond that, Deconstructionism is a weapon that the weak use against the strong. It should be rooted out and destroyed, and its adherents killed with fire.

We are united against postmodernism, but we are not organised against it.

The Red Pill is not a movement. It is box of tools to help you avoid being a lackey in someone else's bid for power.

We are already "fighting" against postmodernism by refusing to be its pawns, by refusing to apologize for having our own agendas, and by demanding respect and payment (in whatever form) from anyone who wants our time and effort.

But unless our agendas intersect and we make allies of one another, we needn't organise to resist it. Anyone who says otherwise, and tries to approach you with platitudes instead of payment, is trying to make you their pawn.

Peterson says almost nothing about postmodernism (the mode/school of thought) except as a demonic intellectual cancer. Is it really? What even is postmodernism? What is its context? These questions aren't answered; there is little reference to the actual work of postmodernists, no quotes from the texts, no corroboration from other scholars reading the postmodernists, etc. Peterson has the great opportunity to lie to you in this situation. And you didn't do anything to backcheck his claims. You called Derrida "Jack Derrida" lol. You don't know Derrida's first name and didn't bother to google it. You don't even know that he was French. I think it's likely that you haven't read any of his works. Rather than gathering the essence of postmodernism from the second-hand accounts of intellectuals who refuse to characterize the movement with any sort of evidence, I think you would benefit from reading Derrida on your own or at least referring to a secondary source that will corroborate its claims.

This is only a thing in the universities, and a university degree is less valuable than ever. Experience and connections trumps which college you went to. 95% of the value you get in college is in the people you meet.

In the real world, no one gives a fuck about postmodernism. People want money, status, and comfort.

Don't buy into this victimization mindset of Peterson. He's a charlatan anyways.

Interesting, I just did an essay on a similar topic. I would argue that this is an oversimplification of postmodernism and blurs the lines between it and neo-Marxism. The video does make some good points. Though, ideologies are almost always limited when used to try to explain everything. The reductionist and individualism critiques are more academically sound than simply not liking it though.

The problem to me with criticizing postmodernism is it's so broad that you could have two postmodernists that disagree on nearly everything.

To me it's more a way of approaching ideology than an ideology itself.

The real problem is leftism, socialism, Marxism, communism. Basically collectivism. People thinking that everybody needs to be a part of their group and think like them. Oh, and pay for them, because anything that's alive and breathing deserves to be given free shit.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding postmodernism or the wiki definitions are off, but I'm not seeing it as the problem. It's people who are postmodernists and using postmodern lines of thinking to arrive at their own ridiculous conclusions.

Anyone who actually can think for themselves should understand the truth is somewhere in the middle. Some postmodern ideas have merit. On the other hand, the average postmodernist is as stupid as the average marxist as the average capitalism fanboy. Talking to them is actively making you more stupid than before.

If you want to learn something, talk to the intellectual top 1% of the movement. Maybe the number of people is even smaller, in the two-digit range. Its the same here. Talk to the top posters of TRP and you will have people who know their shit. One of the average 300k people here? Good luck with that.

He is a perfect example of double-speech. "I'm open to dialogue!" while pushing his own, underlying agenda. He feeds off open disgust for the other side and actually doesn't have to do any work to proof his points. People want to believe him, so they do. And since he is using half-truth, you can't call him a liar.

Yeah, there is a fucking clown-show going on at universities and other places. But is postmodernism the only scourge we have to deal with? I'm pretty sure deep-red states are not the biblical paradise as well. He is doing the same stuff he accuses postmodernism off: Not talking/respecting the other side while pretending to be the best/ignoring the shit going on at your side.

Good sales-pitch but otherwise very underwhelming, sorry.

You think liberals care about freedom of speech? Freedom of responsibility? There is no hope to eliminate liberalism from college campuses any time soon.

After a year of going to one of the most liberal universities in the US, I can assure you that college campuses will be infected with liberalism for the foreseeable future. All we can do as men is to learn as much as we can, lift hard as fuck, and raise little ones to act as true men.

The only solutions are war and secession. At best, the USA will only be able to survive if it becomes a right wing single party state like what happened in Chile under the military dictatorship.

Democracy is peasant rule. And peasants are stupid, jealous, and easily manipulated. So fuck democracy. Farmers feed their animals and not vice versa.
