Story: I'm [21M] and got married to her [26F] at the beginning of this year. Despite reading TRP since I was 18 and been lifting and being career-focused I didn't fully agree that saying no to marriage is the answer. I'm from a traditional Russian family so TRP is basically engraved into my brain. Anyways, we dated for 2 years prior to getting married, but once we got married she started to be more demanding. I was expecting this, but it came to the point where I can't handle it anymore. She expects me to know everything and she's a very smart women so if I don't know something that she knows she gets very pissed at me. I like to consider myself above average in intelligence, but I can't help but feel stupid every time she does this. I feel like I'm my mind is being tricked on how I view myself.
She's a very hard working girl and I would consider myself to be hard working too, but my health is being compromised. I haven't been able to work-out for the past 5 months. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to be hired as a staff accountant, while still finishing school. I recently did my first tax season with working 70 hour work weeks while going to school full-time taking 16 credits. I was pushing myself to the limit and I was earning a lot of money during this time. I was able to help pay off her school debt and get the funds needed to buy a house. I bought a house and I'm in a truly comfortable spot for the next 20 years.
The problem is I just don't love my wife anymore, because she didn't try to support me during that time. Instead she just complains and doesn't appreciate the amount of effort I do to contribute to our family. As a Russian man I already try to keep my emotions in check, but I'm breaking down. She's threatened to leave me twice for silly reasons, but never follows through. She just leaves at anytime things get hard and it's the easiest escape for her. She's admitted this to me before. I understand women behave like children, but I can't bare the sadness it brings me when she does this.
I can't focus on finishing university on a high-note because everyday I think how stupid I must have been to get into this situation. I feel like I've lost who I am and became a slave to "our family", when in reality it's just her. I'm just a broken man...
My plan is to divorce her by next May when the lease of my roommates expire. I don't want to, but to regain the man I once was, this would be the best option. It's not in my nature to consider divorce an option, but I just don't know what to do with my life anymore.
