I’m a 23 freelance graphic designer (doing this for one year, the revenue is not high YET, but ensures me a really decent living) but I have a rough period and I have fewer clients than before so I need more money. This happened at the same time I was planning to move from home. A friend of mine asked me if I want to work as a waiter 4 days/week.

Pros:

  • I would have enough money to move from home.
  • If I get back on track with my freelance projects, the money will be double so I can do even more than moving out from home (I can improve my style and save money in order to reach my goal: having my design agency.)
  • I will be more social (since I started working from home I felt mildly depressed and I can’t make eye contact with people. I also feel that I stutter sometimes when talking)
  • I can make new friends and maybe connect with better people. (right now my friends aren’t looking to improve themselves and have a blue pill vision about life)
  • Based on what my friends says, I can become a manager in 1,5 years if I really work hard and know what I’m doing. (I’m not really sure about this one, seems unrealistic)

Cons:

  • Less time to practice for my freelance job and become better in a shorter time. (I could still a decent job with the client projects)
  • Not an ideal job at 23 years old.
  • Less time for the gym (only 3 days/week)
  • I would go to sleep after 5 AM.
  • Less time in general.

I’m planning to spend the rest of the year (5 months) working as a waiter, but still work harder on the side to get my freelance job back on track. Should I focus 100% on my freelance job or the second job for a short period will be ok?
