Hey guys

Been dealing with some pretty bad depression for a few years now. Within this last year it has it spiraled out of control. I've been smoking and drinking constantly, avoiding social interaction, and stopped going to the gym. I'm 21 and in college right now. My grades are slipping and I'm losing any drive or ambition I once had in life.

I knew things were progressively getting worse once I lost interest in things I once enjoyed. Every activity I do results in me feeling nothing. Just numb. My life is a pathetic cycle of wake up, go to my full time job I hate, come home, drink while doing homework, lay in bed and scroll through social media until I go to sleep.

I share this here because I refuse to with anyone in my life. I don't want anyone finding out. I manage to keep my LTR going strong, everything is great in that aspect, but I'm afraid I'm eventually gonna crack and massively lose frame at some point. I basically just put up a positive front to her that I'm doing just fine. Same goes with my friends, nobody knows. I just go through the motions.

I'm falling deeper into the depression and anxiety pit and I don't know how to get out. I've thought about possibly seeing a therapist but the idea of that, or taking medication, scares me.

Has anyone here been through something similar? What steps can I take to escape this shitty lifestyle and get back up on my feet? Is it time I seek professional help?

Thanks
