I've been an avid reader (and somewhat of a practitioner) of the RP for well over a year now. (Although I'm lucky since I have a RPd father so there's that -- The RP has simply made things more explicit and clearer.)

I do concur that it does take quite some time for all the knowledge to actually sink in and become second nature.

Anyway, I need your help and council for analyzing this situation. Long story short, got a call from a girl whom I thought was my ex (I deleted my ex's number, didn't recognize this one but the voice sounded VERY similar/familiar).

Here's how it went:

Her: Hey, [my name], how are you ?

Me: I'm fine. [a girl's name -- not my ex] ?

Her: No

Silence... Oh fuck! It's ... her ... 0

Her: Hello ? [my name] ? Hello ?

I hang up the phone

I panicked. I thought to myself: "Remember your training. Get your shit together. Calm down and call her back. What you just did makes it look worse."1

I took a deep breathe (stress is caused by a low level of oxygen in the brain) and thought "You have to keep your calm, use a deep voice and don't flinch. Go."

Called back

Me: Hey, battery died.

Her: Oh, okay. It's [a totally different person] I just called to ask how you were doing

...

0: RED FLAG, I have been affected by Oneitus apparently. Although, I have cut ALL contacts with her. Haven't seen/spoken to her for over a year. Haven't thought about her since. Hearing a similar voice made me tremble (fig.)

1: Good move. If I didn't call back that would've made me look still affected. (I no longer am.) And yes, I know I could've avoided this whole situation by simply not answering the phone but I did and I'm happy I did so as it offered me a good learning occasion.

Note: I am well aware that we rationalize a situation after it happens. I just want to point out that all of that happened during the time.

The question is the following: What the fuck just happened ? Do you think I handled the situation well ? As to my diagnosis, I'd love to have an objective take on it.
