If I take a healthy wolf and put him in a small pen in a zoo he will begin pacing back and forth and exhibiting signs if depression. I can do this with any mammal. Plenty of people have depression in prison as you can probably imagine.

So the question is do all the zoo animals need to be perscribes SSRIs or is depression caused by unnatural unhealthy environments?

My doc prescribed me Adderall for ADHD. They like the treat the symptom not the cause.

As an example, you go to the ER with a knife wound, they treat the knife wound. Come in multiple times, they solve the wound, not the motherfucker that keeps stabbing you.

Need a quadruple bypass surgery? Come on down! Sorry you're a fat ass that eats McDonald's six days a week. Not our problem, you're bursting enlarged heart is.

So what's causing the depression? In my experience, I had to get down to figuring out why I was manic depressant. And you are just numbing or relieving the symptoms with a prescription rather than actually CURING the source of your mental illness.

Been Adderall free for a year and a half now. Get around 8 hours of sleep and I can calm the fuck down most of the time. It's glorious.

However, if the antidepressants can assist you at getting there, go for it.

In my experience antidepressants cause way more harm than good. Effexor is one of the few medications with a black box warning for suicidal thoughts. Not to mention permanent changes to your psyche, but youre likely to feel even worse.

This is my own persoanl experience, so take it with a grain. I was on effexor for close to a year, got up to 150mg's. It just kind of zombifies you. Removes the peaks and troughs and gives you a baseline of feeling apathetic most of the time. Getting up in the morning was difficult as my head was spinning. In my opinion they are handed out like candy these days, for the sole reason of inhibiting extreme emotions such as suicidal ideations so the Dr. doesn't have to deal with your shit.

Also, coming off effexor isn't easy, and takes quite a while. I had enough of its bullshit an weaned off it in three weeks on my own by reducing dosage slowly: which was too fast. I displayed aggression and anger neither I nor my parents ever saw before.

I wouldn't recommend it.
