So i've been reading about attachment style.
I love what TRP has done for my life. But one thing I am now having problem with is the concept of attachment. I am learning about different attachment styles, and it says the most healthy one is to have a secure attachment style. It's when you feel secure and connected, while allowing yourself and your partner to move freely.
The other two common attachment styles are Anxious Preoccupied Attachment and Dismissive Avoidant Attachment. The Anxious Preoccupied Attachment is when you feel an emotional hunger and try to be clingy to your partner, and often take actions that push your partner away. Dismissive Avoidant Attachment is when you choose to believe you don't need connection and portray that you don't really care about your relationships.
I feel like this concept can be confusing to many people that are in the TRP community. Whether one should be in the Dismissive Avoidant territory or Secure.
I feel like when I was in the Secure side all my relationships were going very well. Then as i developed a fear of possibly being hurt in the relationship, I started developing a dismissive avoidant attachment. I even tried ending a relationship because of that. But that fear eventually grew into an anxious insecurity and I developed an Anxious Preoccupied Attachment style. After realizing what had happened, I am working on developing a Secure attachment style again.
Just felt like sharing this because I feel TRP can often get mistaken to develop a dismissive avoidant style, but it should ultimately fuel your confidence to be more secure. Thought it would be nice to hear the communities feedback on this.
