A lot of tenets of evolutionary psychology make sense, but there's something I can't wrap my head around. What difference does a woman's facial appearance make in terms of healthy genetics? It's entirely possible that woman A could have a 1/10 butterface but great genetics where it matters, such as life longevity, overall healthiness and resilience to illness etc. At the same time, a woman with a 10/10 face and body may have terrible genes in the aforementioned categories. She may get sick a lot, have skeletal problems, be constantly sick, etc.

Yet, male brains would still choose to prefer mating with the 10/10 woman, even though she would be worse in the long run. This seems to indicate that mate selection isn't as intelligent as some people think it is.

If male thirst is an indicator of anything, it's that even the ugliest woman will find a suitor. Perhaps that suitor will be physically uglier, but his ugliness will not necessarily reflect a bad genetic choice for offspring.
