Background: 23 yo, 6'6", 225 lbs. and dropping, dress moderately nice, social skills have always been my Achilles' heel and I am working to change that for good.

I met up with a friend yesterday, Sunday night. I had met him last Thursday in my city (X)'s downtown. X is a major city in the US.

We went to a saloon, sat at the bar, and ordered a drink. The bar is long, and the interior is spacious with a lot of seating. This is a place that gets packed on Thur-Sat. We get our beers and start chatting about work, school and such.

Three girls sit in the stools to our left. Two sit a few stools away, and one sits in the one to my immediate left. I sensed it, and my chill attitude quickly crumbles as I start to feel like I'm being evaluated.

The one next to me cuts into our convo about work/school. She says she's a student at X State, studying advertising. This segues into her asking me where I go. I say Y Uni. (an ivy). Then I ask her what advertising is even all about. She tells me with a smirk that just because I go to Y, it doesn't mean you're all that. She says I come off as a littttle bit pretentious.

We exchanged a few more words, but after that Y spiel, I felt the life drain out of the interaction. She leaves with her friends to go outside for whatever, and my friend asks me why I stopped. He isn't a hell of a smooth talker either, but he replies with enthusiasm and encourages me to talk, bless his soul.

They actually come back, and the same girl sits in the next stool to the left and rests her legs on her original stool. At this point, my perfectionist mind is telling me to quit, that there's nothing to salvage. The ego backs it up, and I don't speak to her again.

Idk if I am analyzing this shit way too much. Was she being playful and I took it too seriously? I fear being made a fool of by some girl at a bar, in the sense that I feel that would show others the loser I really am in my failed attempt at pursuing her. This is why I didn't press through. Plus she was good-looking, and I don't feel I deserve a girl like that.

I'd appreciate any insight into this scenario. This is my first FR, so bear with me.
