The one thing that helped me a lot just recently was internalizing agree and amplify. You can practice on your friends and coworkers. Pretend like EVERYTHING is a shit test (you're allowed to be autistic about this one, to some extent) and then agree with the premise, and amplify it to absurd levels. This also saves you defending yourself and being awkward. Here's an example:

(frequent, old customer comes in and I help him out, say hi, treat him nicely)

Female coworker: "Why do you suck his dick so much?"

Me, with a smirk: "Because I just love old man dick all over my face. Really gets me going"

(she laughs)

I mean it's not even that funny. It's just that it's quick, it's absurd and it shows that you're confident. A lot of the funniest people I know are just insanely quick and don't second guess themselves.

your not a performing monkey, if your not a natural comedian then don't worry, if she makes a joke about you, agree and amplify what she says in a joking fashion.

Otherwise just listen to alot of standup comedy (different people not all the same person), you will eventually pick up a few things on timing and social ques...
