Being a college student and not coming from a wealthy family, I am broke.
All my money is tied into this education or gas or insurance or rent or food.
At the end of every month I'm still in the hole from the ever increasing number of fees and higher tutition.
Cut down my expenses to eliminate wants. Started playing my piano and reading books as those where two hobbies that are inexpensive.
Still relying on my parents for support when I can't make the bills. I appreciate their support but I know I am being a burden to them.
I think that once I manage to become financially independent I will start to have a more positive over arching frame. I want to pay my parents back for all their help but I know they won't take a dime from me. Sometimes my relationship with them is strained due to differences of opinion. (They are very religous "now" and I am not.) They didn't always share this view: I remember days in my youth when my dad would make fun of religous people.
I maintain frame around them but never directly expressed my views to them, as they would be very offended.
My question to you is "Is it healthy to have this kind of mindset?" More precisely "Is striving for financial independence/overall independence going to be what finally frees my mind?"
Also sometimes I don't want to ever talk to them again. I have removed all of the religous people from my life. As I find them to be the least sane people I have interacted with. I actually have a great deal of disdain for those people.
