Take my advice with a grain of salt. I'm a bit of a fringe case. Your experiences may differ.

why?

Because my friends were losers, like me, but unlike them I eventually decided that sitting around getting high and playing video games wasn't how I wanted to spend my late teens-going-into-20s.

how do you meet people when you're alone?

Couldn't tell you. I was fat as hell and focused on cocooning. You get used to it.

how long did it take to bounce back to what you were before?

To answer literally: I was an omega loser neet before. Why would I want to go back to that?

To answer the spirit of the question: About 3 months of a single 1.3 hour college course every Tues and Thurs, where I spend a good deal of said class bullshitting with my classmates, has done wonders for my charisma gainz. Went from being basically a robot (prolonged social isolation will turn you autistic, be warned) to seeing a side of myself I haven't known since I was a kid.

It comes back quicker than you think, if you work at it. Assuming you're using that isolation to improve yourself, and your charisma will eventually be better than it ever was, as a fitter more attractive you = people responding more positively towards you = a positive feedback loop.

do you regret it

Fuck no. Best decision I've ever made.
