In my current group of friends, there are 6 guys that hang out, and 2 girls (LTR of 2 of the guys.) Now, there are two guys in the group that are constantly fighting for the Alpha position. They both always have to be right, and constantly argue about any and everything. Rarely do we discuss something, it’s more them two arguing over something and the rest of the group chiming in with their opinions.
Status wise, I’m at the top of the food chain. I own my own company, currently plating 2 girls, and am all around mentally well rounded. Everyone else in the group either works part time or is unemployed, and would rather make excuses than do anything with their lives.
What I’m struggling with right now, is theoretically I should be the alpha of the group. If anyone ever has an “adult” problem, they come to me for advice and I try to steer them in the right direction. And whenever we plan something, I’m always calling the shots. Yet during conversation or anything else, I just don’t feel the need to step up and argue my way to the top. They both always have to be right, so I usually just stay silent than give my opinion and instantly be shot down (they ALWAYS have to be right, and never admit to being wrong even when proven).
So my question is, can the alpha truly remain silent like I do? Be a leader who’s not constantly the center of attention?
