What do I say when I cold approach, I usually go up and say “hi I don’t really approach girls like this but I thought your really pretty”. I ask her name and then what?

Should I ask for her number or snap and try to keep the conversation short as possible when I approach or should I get to know her more. I don’t wanna ask questions like I’m interviewing her. If I have to lead the conversation I usually run out of things to say.
