Just thinking back about a conversation I had with an ex years ago..

One thing she said to me that I considered a red flag was when I was talking to her about relationship issues and how I felt that a serious relationship requires some degree of compromise from each partner.

Her response was that she believes in collaboration but not compromise.

I told her that obviously I believe in collaboration, but that for a relationship to work sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the other person, but if you love them you do it willingly. She didn't seem to comprehend what i was saying... she would not admit that sometimes you have to compromise on certain things for the person you're with. For her it seems relationships only involve collaboration and you never have to do anything you don't want for the other person.

I didn't dump her for only this reason but that conversation left an impression on me. When I get deep with a girl, I actually am willing to compromise with her for certain things if we're aiming to go the distance, but this concept was totally foreign to her. Does she not realize that me not fucking other chicks is itself a compromise but I let that go for our relationship?

What do you guys think? Did I overthink this or does she have a point? Do you think this reflects women's psychology? It's common sense that sometimes you make compromises in a relationship right?
