I am a 30 year old 230lb overweight guy who has never step foot in a proper gym. I found the red pill 6 months ago and decided to get my diet under control and start lifting. Since last month I have been on a diet of chicken broccoli and quinoa, for lifting I decided to do the Ice-cream fitness program since it was recommended for beginners to build muscle. I joined the gym last week and bought 5 classes from a personal trainer, told him I wanted to do the ice-cream fitness program (told me he never heard of the program), but he agreed to teach the exercises. First class he is making me do a bunch random exercise on the machines. I asked him when we are going to start the program and he snaps, tells me I do not have the strength to start doing the exercises and I need to build strength on his program before I can move on to the "shit program" I found on the internet or else I am going to injure myself, told him I agree that I might injure myself and that's why I want start with no weights just the bar so I can learn the movements. The rest of the sessions was basically me convincing him that we are going to do ice-cream fitness next class. In the second class he is a complete asshole, shows me a movement and tells me to do it and when I try, he doesn't even bother to look at me. The squat area was full, so he took me to the bench press area, put the barbell on my shoulder and asked me to do squats. I ended up twisting my arm when I tried to put the barbell down after the squat. I have decided I am done with this fucker. I know I will lose the $500 I paid him for the 5 classes, but it's better than paying the deductible if I am injured. My question is if the Ice Cream fitness program really is a beginner's workout program or should start with something else? If so, what would you all recommend? And is it worth hiring another personal trainer to show me the movements or can I figure it out myself?
