I thought that I was the only person that felt like this. Both "bud" and "buddy", even if it's used in the nicest way possible. For me, it always seems that whoever says it to me has some sort of Freudian complex of being superior.

Like "buddy"? They're subtly referring to you as a child. At least that's usually how I use it.
