Back in September, I bought tickets for a football game for my two friends, my brother, and I. My friends paid me the same day and my brother said he would pay me back once he has the money ($30).

This morning he was telling me how he bought something that was worth more than the tickets, I then asked him if was going to finally pay me back, but he ended up trying to low-ball me with the money claiming that I said he only had to pay $20.

Clearly lying to my face, I began to yell as I was explaining to him step by step our conversation that night went (which he conveniently "forgot" aka playing stupid). He eventually paid me back tonight, but I don’t want to yell or feel like I need to physically intimidate him just to get some respect.

It wasn't the money that I was upset about, but more so it was the lack of respect (promising to pay me back multiple times) he was giving me and the way he consistently lies to my face about shit.

Excluding this instance, I find myself yelling when he lies/disrespects me which in turn makes me want to physically hurt him (which I really don't want to do).

He’s 16 and I’m 18. We rarely argue (3-4 times a year) and we never physically fight.

How can I stop myself from yelling and make him respect me (quit lying) without us physically fighting?
