Tl;dr: how many of you go on internet dates without exchanging numbers? I could see how some super shy girls would be against it and be put off by sharing their number with a potential catfish / serial killer.

So roast me if you want to but I’ve been using the dating apps and have started to wonder if exchanging numbers is necessary / does anyone here do it without number sharing.

It dawned on me today as I circled back with a girl I had tried a number close on using bumble.

Basically I said: “hey we should get a drink sometime, here’s my #”

Her: silence

3-4 days later..

Me: me to me: omg too thirsty haha Me: hey so...(back to the topic we were discussing)

Her (immediately): sorry I forgot to mention I spook easily :) Her: haha that’s good advice

Conversation resumes:

Now I know many of us say chad is able to get the number regardless.

That may be true, but giving out your cell would put you at a lot of risk if I was a psycho. It’s very easy to track down someone’s Facebook / social media / LinkedIn

If what we hear about how all attractive women have been harassed or stalked at least once in their lives, it’s almost fair to assume they would be the most leery about giving their number out to a stranger on the internet.

Further, let’s face it - the number exchange is hardly necessary. We both have the app and can chat just fine there.

I’ve had women comment, “why do guys do that?”

So I am curious fellas:

Do y’all do the number exchange or have you guys had more success meeting your date without the number exchange.

I will say this in my experience: I have never had a internet date stand me up. I have been flaked on an hour or two before (who hasn’t). But never a no-call no show.
