Every afternoon I take a break from work to shoot around on a hoop nearby.

The court is a part of a residential complex and there aren't really any other courts nearby. This has been going on for a couple of months now.

Also the best part about practicing in the afternoon on a workday is that the court is absolutely empty.

Then one day, while I'm at the court. The gaurds stop me and tell me that since i don't stay there, I'm not allowed to play.

I tried to argue my case saying that since, the court is not in use. It hopefully shouldn't be bothering anyone. Then explained how I've also got the okay from some of the guys who stay in the building and use the court. I even offered to pay for the chance to use the court for an hour a day.

But he still argues that rules are rules. Any tips on dealing with such a situation?
