Went out drinking with a plate I've been sleeping with for about 2 months. She works at a food cart and says she "lives off her tips", which I believe to be true. Anyways, our food comes and it's pretty small portions and the bartender goes "wow, these are really small portions, I'll hook you up with your next drinks for free".

So we eat and order two more drinks. We go to pay and I pick up the check. He had charged us for the two additional drinks. I'm like whatever, no biggy. So I tip $6 into a $35 tab. Right around 17%.

The dude is standing right there. And my plate loudly says, "You didn't tip enough. I work in the food industry. I know how it is." Then she flops down a wad of one dollar bills on top of my receipt.

There are two things going on. First, I'm paying for the damn dinner. I decide how much to tip. I tell her that as we go to the car, and I also tell her it's a rude and disrespectful move to do that, especially in front of another dude. I felt like they had had a little flirtiness in their convo as well previously. So it was a combo of her wanting to tip more and being attracted to the guy.

She said she threw down the extra cash because he had hooked us up with drinks. So I understand that. I told her he didn't hook us up w/the drinks. I was just like next time, you can pay the whole tip, and then it won't be a problem. Actually you can pay for the entire dinner. She goes, "well do you want to take me home." And I go yes, I will take you home. Soft next procedure goes down.

I just sit there and turn up the music and drive her home. She sniffles like she's crying and then jumps out when I get to her place. We haven't talked since.

Did I overreact or was this soft next called for?
