I've been told that I'm arrogant, mean, and don't care about people which I'm pretty sure I am because I make sure I say stuff out there without having it sugar coated. It didn't really matter when people brought it up because I know that's who I am. Anyways, today I made a comment about someone trying to boast about their accent and it wasn't a very offensive one in my opinion.

The comment: he/she wants more people to talk in English so he/she can boast her accent.

Later, the person came to me to tell me that it offended them and they wouldn't appreciate it. I just replied with a "Got it" and carried on with my work.

What's bothering me is if something so small can trigger someone, I'm better off staying away from them cause I might pass more comments and would end up offending them more.

I'd like to know how you would approach this and whether I do need a change in attitude?
