Your compensation will never be greater than the value you provide to your marketplace. Want more money? Become more valuable. Want to work less? Make an hour of your time worth more in the marketplace. Want to make a specific amount of money but your boss isn't willing to pay you that much even though you know you're valuable enough to earn it? Become your own boss and pay yourself.

Earning more money doesn't mean investing more time in your work or in your job. Earning more money is about investing more time in yourself and your mind! When's the last time you read a book? When's the last time you took a class? When's the last time you attended a seminar? Invest more time and effort in yourself so that you can raise your capacities and value in the marketplace. You're not being paid for your time, you're being paid for your value in the marketplace. If you were being paid for your time, then you would be able to just stay home all day and get check after check. You have plenty of time. 24h a day to be exact. Everybody has that. But what you have in limited quantity is value in the marketplace. And that's what your pay is based on. Can a McDonald's employee make $400/h? The answer if OFF COURSE! He won't be a cashier or guy on the grill though. He'll most likely be on the back end of things like marketing, distribution operations, advertising etc. He is more valuable to the company than the grunt working the grill at 8 am on a Monday.

9-5 is shit. I will be quitting it when I get my own small time business to pay for my bills and start freelancing again while managing and growing my business. My tip is to save your money and start a small but effective business so you can quit your 9-5 and do something else worth your time.

Been in the field for a couple years now and I don’t mind it at all. I love what I do and I’d do it free if I didn’t need money (for not as many hours obviously). I’m at an entry level position, doing the busy work to keep the facility running smoothly. I’d be making 4-8x what I make now when I get a degree and license.

5-2 but same deal mon-fri. Work for a medical marijuana grow op. Starting to learn no matter where I am I don’t like working for someone else or “stagnating”. Already doing something about it but thats my take. They pay the bills but does it allow for the best qualify life for you? Idk man

Edit: dont get me wrong either thankful I work in a rather interesting field with manor growth potential. But seeing my boss fuck around and reap the benefits of our hard work. Slightly infuriating.

If you’re having these thoughts I highly recommend the book “So good they can’t ignore you” by Cal Newport.
